Anyone know anything about fixing broken trees?
This little guy in my yard got hit with several inches of wet snow last night, and broke right the heck over. :(

It's still maybe halfway attached... can I duct tape it? :D

3. I dont know but wound might have to be sealed with that goupy stuff
if you want rest of tree to survive. Sometimes bugs, moisture can penetrate a big gash like that. I think you can find a beter site than this one to solve your problems.

9. I miss gardening. Used to live on two acres and organize full trimming
assualts on trees, bushes. I love the smell, how dirty you get, how nice it looks, how good a sandwich tastes during a break, how good it feels having the right tools and how good and tired you feel after a bath when its al done. The country life is in my blood though I am a city dude.

5. You can't use duct tape
you would have to use tree wrap, and you would probably have to "splint" the tree. However, if you are in the season where you are going to get more wet, heavy snow, it may just do it again. The other problem is in the break, if too much water gets into it, it can freeze and expand, doing further damage to the little guy. In addition, that wetness will become a breeding ground for molds & mildews that will kill the tree. My gut feeling is that if the little guy is bent & broken over that badly, you may have to "put him down." Sorry.

11. Yes, bent over broken is too far gone to be salvaged.
Replace it in the spring and make sure the new one is well staked next winter.

12. I decided "screw it"
Literally. :D Neighbor suggested a wood screw, I figured even if it doesn't work I'm not out anything.

It's an arm-sized aspen tree, about four years old. It hadn't lost any leaves when today's dump hit. We'll see! :bounce:
