What makes Someone or Something Beautiful to you?
Physical or Spiritual or anything?
Society imprints us with it's version of beauty..Whats your version?

I won't bs anyone and make this a total fluff response. Because I do notice physical beauty.
But I find a simple smile from a stranger to be beautiful
I find empathy beautiful
And I find many people on Du to be very beautiful.
And I call them my friends

1. Solving probelms.
Put things together, and the simplest solutions will eventually (I hope) enable me to make life better for as many as I can. Which is pretty much my mission in life! :)

I have problems with feeling and interpreting emotion, so I don't really do the looking-at-things kind of beauty... but I comprehend information sets very well, but they don't translate to english very well. x(

2. The giving nature of many people.
A beautiful smile.

The belly laugh of a child.

The kindness of friends, family, and strangers.

And while there are more things I could list, I will end with: someone who touches my heart and my soul.

3. Their spirit, the "light" in their eyes, compassion, integrity
and a sense of humor. Looks are nothing without those qualities.

4. beauty
for me transcends the physical. As with you GoPsUx, i find empathy beautiful. Passion for to do 'good' and fairness is beautiful.
a kind soul is beautiful.

5. I notice physical beauty too but it means very little over
the long haul. In fact, it means nothing. What is beautiful to me is a combination of strength and vulnerability, kindness, empathy and creativity. A person with these qualities has it all, as far as I'm concerned. Oh, and in a male, he has to be hung like a horse :P

8. i cant say that if a person is wonderful they seem beautiful to me
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 09:11 AM by lionesspriyanka
because its not true. i will still see them as physically unattractive but can love them...

however there are many physically attractive people i find completely unattractive because of their politics/personality

dimples and nice arms are a great combo

9. Mine -
You mentioned empathy - that's huge. Empathy breeds compassion, kindness, tolerance, all things I find very important.
Itelligence. Integrity. Honesty. Beauty has very little to do with the physical in my opinion.

10. Physical beauty does not matter in the long run.
What makes a person beautiful to me is their total honesty (above all else), unselfishness, compassion, empathy, sense of justice and fairness and willingness to sacrifice.

11. it SURELY DOES NOT
the content of one's soul is like a treasure, and some are richer than others.

you can perfume, dress nicely, and otherwise doll up a turd, but guess what, it's still a turd.

12. A kind heart and a beautiful mind.
Once someone displays they have neither it is difficult for me to find them beatiful...no matter how gorgeous they may be on the outside.

13. I think that real beauty comes from inside
I know it sounds kinda corny, but it transcends the rest. A person's appearance is a shell. It's just a covering and it doesn't stand up over the long haul, beauty comes from somewhere inside and shows through the eyes. I See physical beauty and eye-candy can be fun to look at but so is a fluffy cloud on a warm summer day. That stuff's fleeting -- I prefer something that's got more longevity and that comes from a person's soul.

Empathy, humor, intelligence, an open mind, honesty, strength, trust and loyalty...those are some of the things that make a person beautiful to me.

And nice hands don't hurt.
