Some photos of Denali National Park to make you feel good.
During tourist season up here, if you want to go back into Denali National Park, you have to ride a bus from the park entrance with all the other tourists. But in the fall every year, the state holds a lottery, and 400 cars a day for four days get to drive all the way into the park on the 91 miles of dirt road. This year we got picked for the last day, and we miraculously had glorious weather...threading the needle, as it were, between the clouds that we've had all summer. This is my Denali Autumn gallery.

4. Thanks, Blue. We drove to the small town -- starts with a "T" --
but forgot the rest -- to just see Denali, much less drive or fly.

Unfortunately, it was too cloudy that day. We had a nice lunch, bought some postcards and a sweatshirt, and drove back to our hotel. I doubt we'll ever get to see it at all.

My husband and I enjoyed your photos.

Warm regards,

Radio_Lady

9. You must mean Talkeetna
Great little town which is the mobilization point for all the fools who want to climb this mountain. Over 30,000 have attempted it. Almost 100 have died trying.

10. Right -- Talkeetna. We wouldn't have climbed it -- too old.

I might have encouraged hubby to take a small airplane up close.

Anyway, it would have been nice to be able to say we saw it, at least.

Wow! 100 people dead from trying to climb it.

I wonder what the toll is for Mt. Everest.

Mt. Hood, over 11,000 ft. just a few miles east of Portland -- frequently claims some of the fools who try to climb its glaciers, usually in the summer months (May, June, July).

Sorry, folks, I don't want to go that way.

6. Those are really terrific photos!
It's a beautiful place. I was in Denali for 3 days a few years ago and it was perfectly clear those two days. Got lucky!

8. Very nice!
Lovely shots. I've never seen such multi-colored rocks. And those cloud formations are beautiful. I was born there, but I've only been back once to see it. I sometimes wish we hadn't moved away. Then again, I hate snow and cold weather and darkness (we went on to Minnesota and Colorado), so it's all for the best. Down here in Tennessee, we might go all winter without more than an inch of snow. And that makes me happy.
