6. Vodka is vodka to me...
I tried some of that expensive Sky vodka, and to me, it tasted the same...same with most liqours...My wife swears by Cabo Wabo tequila, and to me...it tastes just as good as the weak ass Montezuma tequila...but with beer, I do notice...but not so much with hard liqour.

25. I read a magazine article about a big Vodka Taste Test....
One evening a week, for several weeks, a group tried several different vodkas--cheapo to premium. Popov did best in the "how do you feel the next day" category. People tended to drink less of it, so they weren't as hung over.

I also like Grey Goose.

My co-worker swears by his cheaper home version - buy Smirnoff & run it through the Brita filter a few times. I should try that sometime.

11. Svedka ain't bad, but Finlandia is better. Remember, with vodka (as with
whisky and other hard liquors), higher price equals smoother. For the most part; advertising buzz and fancy bottles excepted.

I've only been once to Stuttgart and drove through Munich with a train, nice part of Germany.

It's funny, because many here on DU have German roots or even speak German.

19. Vox
I like Chopin a lot too though. My favorite is Ciroc but the purists out there will argue that it's not really a vodka since it's made from grapes so I'll stick with Vox since 90% of the time that's what I pick up. Earlier this year I splurged and special ordered some Jean Marc XO after reading about how it was supposed to be the best vodka ever. It was ok but not 60 dollars a bottle ok.

It's better and cheaper than its crappy Swedish counterpart.

Poland is the real deal. When I bartended, no one would drink it though. I believe it's distilled three times through potatoes.

46. For making martinis, Grey Goose is the best
it's smooth and always goes down easy, plus it's French so that's gotta piss off people. Three Olives is another good brand made in England of all places and of course the Ketel One martini is always good. But if I'm mixing it with another liquid, I'll drink just about anything because you really can't tell the difference

50. Svedka....
I'm not much of a vodka drinker. The occasional Bloody Mary? Smirnoff will do. And I'll take GIN in my Martini, thanks.

However, I tasted some chilled Svedka at Spec's Liquor Warehouse. (Free samples are often available, especially on Friday & Saturday.)

Like drinking chilled spring water. Delicious, without that alcohol afterburn.
