Poll question: Favorite variety of APPLE
I know there are only ten slots, and this list is highly biased toward the apples available in the western US.

Mind you, I liked the Lisa in concept...

Pity they charged too much for too little. ($10,000 in 1982 valued currency - or nearly $20,000 today.)

I'm so happy they're back at our local farm stand!

The perfect balance of tart and sweet, perfect consistency and texture...ok I'm getting up right now to have another.

BTW: I had an 'heirloom' apple the other day that was pretty damn good too. It was an Opel

8. In order, probably Braeburn, Fuji, and Golden Delicious (especially from
New Zealand). Not keen on red delicious. And I don't like the way they, and some other American apples, are all painted and waxed...bleh.

And, of course, Macintosh computers.

14. Orins;
with Ambrosias second. :-)

Japanese Orins are divine. I only see them once every couple of years, and then only for 2 weeks or so. I buy tons of them. The B.C. ones don't quite measure up, but they're still a ways ahead of Ambrosias.

25. Hard to beat a good Honeycrisp
They 'snap' when you bite into them. I love the texture, the crispness and how refreshing they taste. YUM! Every bit worth the extra cost.

24. Very Few Midwestern Apples On the Chart, Though
A shame, since the midwest produces some of the finest apples anywhere, including the world's best apple, the Jonathan, as well as:
Akane
Arkansas Black - highly delicious
Blushing Golden
Cortland - highly delicious
Empire
Golden Delicious - not delicious
Grimes Golden
Ida Red
Jonafree
Jonagold - will do if you can't get a Jonathan
Liberty
Mutsu
Ozark Gold - yum
Paula Red
Redfree
Red Rome
Rome Beauty
Royal Gala
Stayman Winsap - highly delicious
