Today in music history 9-21
1987, Jaco Pastorius gets in his last bar fight.

Happy 72nd birthday to Leonard Cohen. Hallelujah! A few years later, Al Pacino steals Cohen's face.

Happy 39th birthday to country singer Faith Hill. Nothing really funny to say, I just wanted to post her picture. :)

45 years ago today Bob Dylan records his first album in one day for $400. 45 years later people are still wondering what the hell he was saying on that album.

1985, Madonna scored her first UK No.1 album with 'Like A Virgin', ten months after its release. It's been reported that she presently has arthritis in her jaw brought on from her "climb" to the top.

1989, The Bangles issued a press statement confirming that the group were splitting. We all know exactly where we were at and what we were doing at that exact moment. Kind of like the JFK and Lennon assassinations.

Happy 34th birthday to Liam Gallagher of Oasis. It has been reported that Liam is drunk at birth and punched the nurse while screaming "Goo goo ga joob!" Score one for Oasis!

1926 Jelly Roll Morton records Dead Man Blues. Jelly Roll eventually changes his name to Onion Bagel with Strawberry Cream Cheese Morton.

And in 1986, The National Inquirer Magazine featured a picture of Michael Jackson in a oxygen chamber with a story claiming that Jackson had a bizarre plan to live until he was 150 years old. He figures by that time his boyfriend will finally reach the age of consent. (Sorry people, it is just a joke).

2. Thanks. I like doing them
When I was a teen I used to get the "Cream" (remember that mag?) calenders. They had all this kind of trivia stuff and some of it was pretty funny. Is Cream still around?

5. *sigh*...I love the Bangles...
If you ever get a chance to see them live, do it! Their shows are a lot of fun. These girls can play, and their harmonies are wonderful. (Although the last time I saw them, Michael Steele wasn't playing bass and her vocals were definitely missed.)

Very sad about Jaco. I remember hearing that he had died like it was yesterday. Hard to believe it was 1987.
