1. My Webmaster DELETED My (and Everyone Else's) Pages
Loved One was having a DumbFuck moment while doing something to our server, and tossed a few folders. He realized what they were the moment he had flushed them forever. I used to have a nice site with many photos of several Primitive Art Sites; now I have a collection of .jpgs that aren't linked to anything.

well, i've managed to recreate a portion of what i lost -- now my page won't show my images. i don't even know WTF i'm doing wrong. my ftp client has everything from my hard drive. i don't know if it's in how i uploaded things or if it's errors in my code or what but --

this site has to be up NOW because it's mentioned in a classified ad going online today!

:banghead:

anyway. thanks for listening.

edit: look what happened to my page! no images! www.adoptcats.org

4. It's One of Two Things: Syntax or Syntax
Check the spelling of the image (I don't know how many times I've typed in ".jpeg" like an idiot) or that you've addressed it to an image that exists!

2. It should still be saved on your computer.
Wouldn't you have to save it to your hard drive before uploading it?

6. Take Out the Titles in the Images
Looks like they're overaddressed (the image name is in too many times).

7. Valid Path?
<html>
<head>
<img src="photos/1eartipped.png"
width="245" height="223"
alt="1eartipped.png" border="0"><img
src="photos/adoptcatsimage2.jpg"
width="594" height="183"
alt="adoptcatsimage2.jpg" border="0">

I think you need *more* addressing for the images now that I
look at the code - they show up on your computer because
that's where the photos live. You need to upload the photos
and address them as http://servername.com/1eartipped.png
(etc). - like you did with the stuff form Alley Cat Allies.

8. i'm using an html editor - Evrsoft First Page -
When I use the insert image tool, it never copies in the complete location name. It starts with "photos/" instead of "C:/Documents . . . " etc.

9. Yeah, You've Got to Complete the Pathing
Since the photos live on your computer while you're composing, the HTML editor paths it from there, but for the page to go "live" the photos have to live on the server with the webpage. Just upload them, and plop the http://servername.whatever infront of each picture and it should work. Don't use the wWindows path - the photos have to be on the WEB server, not your computer.

in order to get the page online by the time my ad hits.

11. Photobucket Will Work Just Fine!
It's a lot easier than I've probably made it seem. When you're less tired (ha!), "view source code" of a simple web page (any page will do) and see how they have their images coded to get a better idea if I'm making no sense.

14. First, make sure the pictures are actually in the folders
Edited on Thu Sep-21-06 06:38 AM by China_cat
referenced and that your tree is correct (that the photos folder hasn't gotten lost inside another folder)

then try putting ..(two periods) before the photo folder name and see if that doesn't work for you
