I found out the damage estimate today for my deer vs. car incident.

Just about $2200. Thank the GODDESS for $100 deductibles! :woohoo:

Being replaced:

radiator
a/c condenser
headlight assembly
plastic bumper (pretty much the entire front of the car in an Element)

Also being repaired - the small dent in the hood, with paint and clear coat (although I would have thought it could have been popped out)



Sheesh - I didn't think it was that bad!

1. They estimated my deer incident at $5,000!

Cheaper to buy a new car for me. And I did!

2. Have you tried those little plastic deer whistle things?

I know they must probably work; 3 fully grown walking venison pieces were heading toward the road but then turned and skipped the other way; this was about 500 feet away.

Fortunately, none of us got a chance to yell "D'oh!" at just the wrong moment. :yoiks:

I'm sorry that one didn't see you coming or couldn't fathom the concept of movement... but did you take the carcass home and whip up some stew as consolation? :9

3. It's always worse than you think.

My dent in the rear quarter (thank you valet guy!) ran their insurance company almost 2 grand, PLUS the cost of renting me a car.
