I almost hit a stupid idiot driver on my way home from work today
I'm driving home on a 4 lane road with a center turn lane when out of the blue some idiot decides to make a left turn in front of me from the center turn lane but then he sees me and fucking stops right in the middle of my lane!!!!!!

If he just kept fucking going, i would have slowed down with a hard break, cursed at him to myself and been on my way, he had room to make the turn but he fucking changed his mind in midstream and almost caused an accident.

I had to slam on my breaks going from 45 mph to a dead stop to avoid hitting him.

When you make a maneuver don't pussyfoot about it, complete the fucking maneuver. arghhhhhhh.

1. Smells like an insurance scam.
You'd have hit his passenger side right?

3. They get hit, your insurance pays big time.
Hospital bills, time lost on their crappy job, and the bucks to buy a new car. Usually they can play a whiplash out to be disabling for awhile. Or a wrenched shoulder etc. The point is that you hit the car on the side away from them which reduces the risk(especially with airbags) of a real bad injury. Then they skate for awhile.

4. two can play at that game
and I would have had the law on my side. I had the legal right of way. I also made every possible effort to avoid an accident by breaking.

If I hit him, I would be contacting attorneys right now looking to sue the bastard myself!

5. No passenger no injury to him
even though he would claim whiplash or something.
You would have hit him, more or less in the back, your fault,
he collects

6. no
He would have made an illegal turn into oncoming traffic that had the right of way.

Legally, he would be at fault.

7. In Michigan it would be fuzzy.
The law says that you have to have control of your car at all times. The lawyers would be arguing whether or not you were speeding therefor not in control of your car. Absent witnesses, it's a usually a payoff to the person that got hit.

9. No, the OP was the one moving, the dude turning would be at fault
Witnesses or not -- the cops would know... an ex was a cop, and they generally are pretty savvy about this stuff.

10. Both were moving.
The Jerk started a left turn in front of Herman who was moving forward, then stopped. Herman managed to skid to a stop in time, but...who usually wins here?

8. No, the guy would be at fault -- HE made the illegal turn into traffic
Doesn't matter if he was hit in the back, side, front -- his fault, 100%.

11. It's not illegal to make a left turn from the center turn lane.

Bad judgment, but not illegal.

12. it's illegal
when you do not yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. That makes it an illegal turn. Oncoming traffic always has the right of way when you make any kind of turn
