Shall I snitch? - Apartment living annoyances Part 2038
Some dufus spilled liquid laundry detergent all over the laundry room floor and didn't clean it up!

there's a mop there, but no, it's there. Just waiting.

Shall I snitch to the landlord? I'm tired of complaining, but there's an inconsiderate idiot here.

what would telling the landlord accomplish?

if you know who did it, why not confront them and ask what their problem is?

sometimes shaming someone can be effective.

4. I have no idea who it is.........
I'll let the landlord deal with it. I'm tired of picking up after people......

They just left a mess and didn't even bother to clean it up. And there's a mop and sink just sitting there. :)

5. If it was me, I would just deal with it
especially if you have complained about past incidents in the laundry room. I hated apartment living, and I'm so glad I got a house...

7 yrs ago, I had a HUGE stereo...two recievers, an equalizer, 11 speakers, dual cd players, tape deck, record player....and do you know how I listened to it? With headphones...I had the worlds biggest effing discman....anytime I would turn the damn thing on, no matter the level of sound, my neighbors would complain...but did I complain when their damn tv's were loud, or when they were partying like mad? No, I didnt'....so much for being a nice guy...

I have picked up things, and been patient, but I don't know......something in me snapped. :(

I'm not being paid for this. :)

8. true...
when I worked for a dormitory up in Kansas, I just did most of the cleaning, otherwise, it would stay there for eons...and believe me, picking up after 130 guys, is a constant struggle, and whenever I caught one of them creating a damn mess, boy I gave them the rant...:)

9. I have dirt on who I think is the alleged culprit........
in fact he showed me how to use the washer and dryer without paying (oh, I see? uh huh)

it was his laundry soap he usually leaves in the laundry room.....

but everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. (oh brother, I've lost it)

10. I would
They'll(landlord) most likely have to clean it up eventually, anyway.

Someone could slip on it and injure themselves. :(

11. True.
it's like, isn't it automatic that when you spill something, you clean it up?
I just don't get people. :(

13. Laundry rooms
are apartment dweller's battlegrounds.

It's as if normal, sane people become unhinged as soon as they set foot in one. (and the rude and/or unhinged become even more so)Present company, including myself, excepted, of course. ;-)

I could rattle off a day's worth of inconsiderate behaviour from those who use the laundry room. If I could, I'd use it at times when most people don't - so I didn't have to deal with them.

Stuff strewn all over the floor - including my clothes on a few occasions (can you imagine the nerve of someone taking your clothes out of the dryer, throwing them on the floor and putting theirs in??! While it's still on your time??!)

In one place I lived, someone was stealing women's lingerie, and a few items of mine were taken. x(

Oh, don't get me started...:grr:

15. I'm fed up with people in general......
maybe that's clouding my perspective.

I try, probably more than others would or could.

I've picked up garbage strewn about by passersby or from ripped laundry bags.

I got the graffiti in the back cleaned up.

I stopped the lit cig butts being thrown at people's windows and becoming a bloody fire hazzard.

I put out little cans for ashtrays.

Hell, I take pride in my surroundings. It's not much, but it's all I have, and I think the nice people here as well as me, deserve that.

:D I've lost it.

16. I'd like to live
in your building!

Since no one gives you any credit, I will. Thank you for keeping your neighbourhood clean!

Most renters are messy; until they own it, many don't care. I've got my name on a co-op list, because that's where people would care - after all, everyone has a stake in it.

Have you thought about co-ops at all? I realize you moved not long ago, and love your windows...:7

18. I think the person doing this is a little young....
Mommy obviously never taught him how to be respectful or do much for himself.

Yeah, it's okay living here. In any place, there are always a few bozos around but generally it's okay.
Slowly but surely, buying new decorations and things I need and want. I take pride in my surroundings if SOME people do not. I don't care if one rents or not, it's about what one decides they want to live with. :)

I just hate it when people's GUESTS disrespect the place. Your friends tell a lot about how you are, IMO.

In a few years, depending on where I am in my life, I may move into a condo or house(?)
I don't know, one has to keep looking up. ;)

14. Leave a snotty post-it note
It will entertain all the innocent and some will add comments. Laundry room notes are fun.

17. Hmmm, its a toughie
maybe this will give you some insight, I doubt it though.

I hate my neighbors, the scrubs that they are and their 7 cars outside, anyway their trash keeps blowing into my yard. I finally got fed up, went and started banging on the door, demanding they open up the effing door. I was being pretty loud. They did not open it. So I left a very very nasty note and told them I was effing tired of their trash in my yard, they were a disgrace to the neighborhood and they just better stop being so damn inconsiderate. I also threw their trash in their lawn. it was just a bunch of recyclable stuff. I was pissed.

Needless to say they moved the trash to the other side.

19. You may wonder if it's snitching, but I see this type of thing as a
Quality of Life issue. If this is a rare event, I'd let it go. If this stuff happens frequently, I'd report it. When crappy things like this (and litter, and messy building lobbies) are allowed to fester, they tear down the living environment for everyone. What do they call this - the Broken Window Syndrome, or something? If you want a building that's clean and attractive, you may need to call the manager and let him/her know.

give the management a chance to clean it up. It'll be their ass if someone slips in it.
