What kinds of birds will I find in OK
that I won't find in the greater DC area?

I'm taking my field glasses... :hi:

3. It's a pretty bird, for sure.
I'm sure there are plenty. It's the state bird. :)

6. The site says they eat a lot of crickets...
The crickets are in full swing around here, so they probably are singing in OK, too.

Thanks for the tip!

21. they are not shy
Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 10:21 PM by pitohui
i have seen them right out on telephone wires, i have even observed three of them doing a sort of display dance right over a swimming pool as I lounged in my lounge chair

these were not seen in oklahoma as i don't go there, but in other habitat where i've seen scissortails they are not bashful at all and will come right out, so if they're around, i think you will see them

4. In OKC, you're not going to see much more than pigeons.
The occasional sparrow, really. When you get out to the country, there are scissortail fly catchers, red winged black birds, hawks, and several different others, but those are the most unique.

5. There are cardinals, robins and blue jays around my neighborhood.
And there is a bird that makes a weird sound, too.

12. Opera gig...
I'll be playing in Norman and staying in OKC with Tulsa Opera.

I'm bringing my kiddo, too. Duckie's going to show us the zoo on Saturday. Are you in the area too?

19. That's true, too.
However, suprisingly, state and local government is much more liberal. That is good.

23. At first, I thought this gig would be in Tulsa...
My aunt, who just passed away a couple of weeks ago, said that I'd like Tulsa...that there were more Democrats there than in OKC.

I guess I'll have to watch my mouth, lest Bubba should overhear, eh?

20. Spent a couple years in OKC
The climate was just about perfect for many different plants and wildlife species.

Don't miss the way holly grows everywhere. Yep real holly, and the big pecan trees.
See if you can get a Rose-rock to take home.

And my favorite place in OKC is the Crystal Bridge.
