Willie Nelson cited for drug possession
BREAUX BRIDGE, La. - Willie Nelson and several members of his band were issued misdemeanor
citations for drug possession early today during a traffic stop in Saint Martin Parish.

The traffic stop was conducted on Interstate 10 near Breaux Bridge.

Trooper Willie Williams says troopers smelled a strong odor of marijuana
when the driver opened the bus door.

During a search of the bus, Williams say approximately 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana
and approximately 2/10 of a pound of mushrooms were located on the bus.>>>>.snip

3. If they had found 1.5 lbs of pot somewhere other than Willie's bus....
...they probably would have assumed it was for the purpose of distributing it, ie., dealing. But I supposed they thought, "Hell, 1.5 pounds is only about enough to get Willie's crew to the next gig," so charged it as a misdemeanor?

(amazed that he got caught with a pound and a half and only got a ticket....!)

Besides the bad math you can pick most those shrooms in the fields of Louisiana close to the cow paddies.

Willie you are a treasure to this nation and Texas, hell everything they got could be used for bio-fuel let alone brain-fuel.

11. Sorry, but I don't find this even slightly humorous..
...In Texas that amount means a life sentence and I have friends who have done time for less one quarter of that amount of grass alone-never mind the mushrooms. I like Willy but until celebrities get the same treatment as common folks this bullshit "war on drugs" will continue...

42. They were treated the same as any other person in LA
On first time possession of "Schedule I, Hallucinogenic" charges. In LA the amount of marijuana (Schedule I, Hallucinogenic)in possession is irrelevant, as long as it is less than sixty pounds.

First offense: five hundred dollars and/or up to six months in jail.

Lucky for them it wasn't Texas.

I do, however agree with you about the BS drug laws and how Texas is one of the worst states. Funny how Texas law hasn't slowed down use nor distribution one bit in the state. You'd think they'd figure out how full of shit they are, wouldn't you?

Peace

15. Police stop Willie Nelson's tour bus on I-10, find marijuana and mushrooms

Louisiana State Police issued a misdemeanor citation to country music legend Willie Nelson for possession of marijuana and mushrooms early this morning after stopping his tour bus near Breaux Bridge.

Trooper Willie Williams, State Police spokesman, said today that a trooper with the Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped Nelson’s bus on Interstate 10, near milepost 110, for a commercial vehicle inspection, a common procedure on Louisiana roadways.

Williams said when the trooper entered the doorway of the vehicle, he immediately smelled marijuana. After searching the bus, the trooper confiscated one and a half pounds of marijuana and two-tenths of a pound of mushrooms.

Stephen Colbert show last week with some country music guy Toby Keith (not sure, don't know Country music well).
Toby Keith completely outed the Willie Nelson Tour Bus as the "Marijuana Dome".
I recall thinking... Uh Oh..... I wonder if Willie wants everyone to know what goes on on his bus....

before stopping the vehicle who would be inside and the odds they could find something, knowing Willie's history. IMHO.

29. In other news, police find water in an Evian bottle
I mean, wouldn't it be more newsworthy if they pulled over Willie's bus and there was NO marijuana?

Reminds me of one of the best country songs in years:

What would Willie Do?

You know sometimes I wonder when I ain't gettin' nowhere
What would old Willie do when it all gets too much to bear
And I can see him on his lonely old tour bus
And he's got his problems just like any of us
Well he'd just take a deep breath and then he'd let it all go
And he'd take another deep breath and let it all go
And he'd take another deep breath...and he'd hold it

36. For Chrissakes, leave Willie alone!
As Willie has said, pot may have saved him from himself. In the day, Willie was a huge drinker and was violent while drunk. Now he stays away from the grape, and says pot makes him a mellower person.

The marijuana laws are still so outdated. I thought all of us Babyboomers said we would change the drug laws once we took power. Now, the most well-known Boomer squats in the White House and is slightly to the right of Hitler.

I despise these people who need to control everyone. Authoritarians, control-freaks, pigs, judges, self-righteous scum. If a grown man decides he wants to smoke a joint let him smoke a fuckin joint. I don't think you create a better society through more control, I think you need education and freedom.

If anyone needs me I'll be smoking a joint.

car, home, family, property, college investment fund, we can kiss it all goodbye on our way to the penitentiary if one of us "normals" gets nailed with that much marijuana.

Willie and his crew got off easy cos he's a celebrity with enough money and public support to fight back, successfully.

51. I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
(Toby Keith/Scotty Emerick)

I always heard that his herb was top shelf
I just could not wait to find out for myself
Don't knock it til' you tried it, Well I tried it my friend
And I'll never smoke weed with Willie again

I learned a hard lesson in a small Texas town
He fired up a fat boy and passed him around
The last words that I spoke before they tucked me in
Was I'll never smoke weed with Willie again

I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
My parties all over before it begins
You can pour me some old whiskey river my friend
But I'll never smoke weed with Willie again

I hopped on his old bus, the Honey Suckle Rose
The party was Vegas it was after the show.
Alone in the front lounge with just me and him,
With one parting puff grim creeper set in.

I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
My parties all over before it begins
You can pour me some old whiskey river my friend
But I'll never smoke weed with Willie again

Now we're passing the guitar and telling good jokes
I know ones a-comin' cause I'm smelling smoke
No I do not partake, I just let it pass by
With a smile on my face and a great contact high

I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
My parties all over before it begins
You can pour me some old whiskey river my friend
But I'll never smoke weed with Willie again

In the fetal position with drool on my chin
I messed up and smoked weed with Willie again
