Please help a hopelessly computer-illiterate goober.
I did something to make the bar with the 'start' button go from horizontal along the bottom to vertical along the right. How do I change it back? This is driving me nuts.

Thanks,

Z.

1. Click and drag...
on the middle of the task bar (where there aren't any programs)... just drag it down to the bottom of the screen.

3. When I go that, it just goes wider to the left, it doesn't go down. :(
And it's still driving me nuts.

5. That's because you're clicking too close to the edge of the taskbar.

Notice how when you do that it has a mouse cursor that shows a double-headed arrow? Clicking on the very edge of the taskbar is meant to resize it. When you click make sure you're clicking while the normal cursor is visible, yet you're still on the taskbar. It should change from the normal mouse cursor to a four-headed cursor.

6. Ah. Geez, I'm an idiot about these things.
I was dragged kicking and screaming into the computer age to begin with. I appreciate the help, thank you. :)

8. I've been on computers since I was a wee one.
I'm basically my family's personal computer monkey at this point.

9. My nephew holds that job in my family.
I keep meaning to learn more, but every time something obvious like this pops up, I get discouraged.
