I finally watched that movie: "Under the Tuscan Sun"
and frankly, it was lousy. Every thing was so "perfect", oh so "Eyetalyun", and oh how everyone just loved everyone and life was so-o-o-o perfectly beautiful and the food was so-o-o-o-o perfect, and the sunflowers were placed so-o-o-o-o artfully throughtout. And the young couple and their oh so perfect wedding based on love (ha, she's pregant). And when she got laid and carried on kissing some dumb old painting. Oh, and in the end...she had a dopey boyfriend who and then the water came out of the tap. It was SO BEAUTIFUL, and heartfelt, and how I so want to go there and BE JUST LIKE HER and oh, you know...just because everyone's doing it, and it's popular and everyone just loves everyone. So I'm going go on a "gay" trip and get off the bus with my luggage when I see an old run down villa and everyone will love me and help me...What a lame ass movie.

2. When they showed the preview for it a few years ago
I kept thinking, something about this sounds familiar. Then they gave the name of the movie, and the entire audience burst out laughing, because it was so different from the book! They changed everything.

OTOH, the movie Frances was more likeable than the book Frances. My boyfriend always says, "I'd never visit her on vacation; all you'd do was work".

6. Does North Beach in San Francisco count?
Heh, heh, heh, heh...don't I wish!! On my own, and not because of the movie that's for sure.

4. Thanks
I thought it was dumb and cloying, too. It's made a lot of interior desecrators wealthy, though, as silly people with too much money and absolutely no taste have demanded "Tuscan" interiors. It's been quite a fad.

It's pretty funny considering most folks in Tuscany don't live in villas and have the same outdated, messy houses we do.

I guess if you're the type who gets off on formulaic romance novels the movie was great. For unromatic types like me, forget it.

5. I like Diane Lane but I haven't seen the movie either.
The ads for it are so perfectly formulaic perfect. So predictably marketed for 35+ year old women.
Ugh.

8. Well, it was based on a lame-ass book.
I hated it, too, even though I generally jump at any excuse to watch Diane Lane. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
