Monday, September 18. William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day:

"Thus far, with rough and all-unable pen,
Our bending author hath pursu'd the story;"

Henry V, Epilogue, Lines 1-2.

With that, "William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day" is taking a little sabbatical. The Bard has provided us all with a summer's worth of laughs, guffaws, jabs, jibs, and thoughtful contemplation. But now, with Autumn approaching, his pen is broken and the ink is dry and cracked. Just as Will Shakespeare quit the stage in London and retired to Stratford, only to return a few years later to command the stage once more, collaborating with an inferior partner, so shall we both return in good time. We shall assay the ramparts of conservative arrogance, plumb the depths of right-wing stupidity, and endure, patiently, the incompetence of Republican fools. For my dear friends and gentle good people, I leave these words of Puck, to close out "A Midsummer Night's Dream":

"If we shadows have offended,
think but this; and all is mended
that you have but slumber'd here
while these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme
No more yielding but a dream.
Gentles--do not reprehend
If you pardon, we will mend.
And, as I am an honest Puck
If we have unearned luck.
Now to scape the serpents tongue.
We will make amends ere long
Else the Puck a liar call.
So--goodnight unto you all.
Give me your hands if we be friends.
And Robin shall restore amends."

3. No, CalPeg. Definitely not 'good-bye'.
It'll probably just be a few weeks, that's all. It was getting tough finding a good image every day. There are thousands of great quotes from the works of the Bard, but not every one lent itself well to a contemporary image; I occasionally put up some TFTD that were compromises, or were me settling for what I could get in a hurried moment. I'm just gonna let the juices simmer for a while and start again fresh in a little while.

Thanks for being here, CalPeg.
Thanks, miss american pie

Love you both. :loveya:

And yes, I will STILL be a frequent Lounger. Every day, if I can. B-)

How could I leave "The Naughty Girls"?

4. Thanks, Aristus.
I'll certainly miss these wonderful thoughts of yours and Will's, even if only for a few weeks.:applause:

For some reason, I'm getting the "red X" today instead of your images. I'll keep trying, tho. :)

5. It's good to have you here, speedoo.
I checked the image on my end, and it is up and running, no problems. So maybe something is wrong with your server.

I hope you will still be a regular at WSTFTD when we resume, speedoo. :pals:

I'll have to bring my Shakespeare books to the office now. :-)

Thanks for all your work this summer Aristus. It was lovely. :-)

7. Ave atque vale
I am sorry to report that I too only have "missing image" icons displayed. But no matter. Thanks for letting us all know about your sabbatical. There may yet be a complementary poster managing daily posts from the ancients here in the Lounge ;-) and perhaps sooner rather than later now that there will be a gap in our day.

9. I can't wait to start reading your threads, Book Lover.
Tell you what: go as long as you want; when I feel ready to resume WSTFTD, I'll check with you and see if it's all right with you to overlap. 'Til then the stage is yours. :applause:

10. Oh no, the pressure!
<grin> Seriously, however, I know that I have some big shoes to fill. Luckily, the ancients are such a rich source of literature, the job will be that much easier.

11. Thank you.

If we do meet again, we'll smile indeed; If not, 'tis true this parting was well made.
