Who's the best actor living today?

Recently I had a conversation with a friend, who had studied theater in college, and she had told me that in her opinion Jonny Depp is the best actor right now because you don't see him playing the character you only see the character. I will admit that he is very good at doing this. Other actors have a presence about them, DeNiro, Jackson, Pacino, where you know exactly who they are but their sheer presence on the screen gets you excited about the movie. Who do you think is the best actor living and why?

8. And while we're on the subject, Al Pacino is the worst (almost). He

just gets such a free ride. Since Dog Day Afternoon its been all down hill.
