I moved Lelapin into the dorm today.
:(

She's excited to be there and I'm excited for her. I just miss having her around.

At 7:00 this morning when I went to put some things in the car, there was a monarch butterfly on the door handle. No matter what I did, it wouldn't move. I've never seen butterflies out that early in the morning and in fog so dense you couldn't see the neighbor's house. I took it as a sign. New beginnings all around it seems.

1. What kind of dorm?
Like a college dorm? Didn't the semester start weeks ago?

3. College dorm
Most Ohio universities are on the quarter system. They start in late September and end in mid-June to get 3 quarters completed.

I really dread the thought of sending my daughter off to college in some ways. Of course I'll be happy for her--and I know I'm blessed to have such a talented bright kid. But seriously, I know I'm gonna get a bad case of the empty nest thing.

42. So far, so good...
He had to take some training for it, which he said was no big deal. He's pretty easygoing, and said once the residents understood the things he really had to be serious about, so far everyone has been easy to work with.

He said it's a bit of additional work, but so far nothing unmanageable. Another perk is getting his own apartment-style suite, although he says he actually misses living with his roommates.

51. Cautiously optimistic
I was approved for a parental loan after being denied one last year. It's a ton of money I have no way to pay back. Sigh. But, I'm hopeful the financial aid department will finally get around to finalizing my appeal now that the documentation is in. If it's not a favorable result, this could be a one-quarter year for Lelapin. I'm still paying *my* student loans off.
