Is it just me, or do plasma t.v.'s really look that glossy and fake?
I've been shopping around off and on for a flat-panel t.v. the past few month, considering. I don't really watch that much t.v., but the t.v. I do watch....dvd movies, PBS, and occasionally other channels I like to have the best viewing experience. Right now I have a standard old-fashioned T.V. "box" set.

So, I like the thin profile of plasma and LCD sets, but I don't like that "glossy look" of the plasma sets. Everyone says plasma has the best picture, but they look fake and unrealistic to me compared to LCD sets, which to me seem to have a more natural looking picture. I also like that LCD sets are lighter weight, consume less power, and are a proven technology. I'm very unimpressed with plasma sets. Anyone else have the same kind of impression, or a different impression?

1. I've also heard that you have to watch out for picture burning with plasma
I'm not sure if they improved the technology but I read a while back that they were having problems with images getting burned into the plasma screens. For the money I would go with the LCD

2. Most LCD sets looks blocky...
Maybe the dingalings who set them up don't care to properly optimize the picture, but most LCD screens don't look appealing at all. Plasma's issues are more with brightness, but I'd rather have that than jagged blocky displays. (LCD costs a lot more too...)

3. Blocky?
Not sure what you mean by that. The LCD sets I've looked at look better to me than the plasma. I have been looking at the most highly rated LCD sets, so perhaps that makes a differences. I've also been waiting for the prices of LCD's to get in line with plasma, and they are rapidly moving in that direction. I'm looking at a 37-40 inch set.

4. Picture quality on a Plasma degrades severely after five years.

5. It's your money and your eyeballs
if you like the picture with an LCD then go with it. Don't let anyone tell you you're wrong.
