the bad kind of bird watching.
as in sitting in the back yard watching your beloved pet parrot sit in a high tree. that is how i spent most of yesterday. i finally went in at about 11 o'clock and got some sleep. my hopes that she would stay put and come down this morning did not pan out. no sight of her, no sound of her. gone.
gonna go get my bike and take a ride around a few blocks here, and see if i can find her. i'll do the flyer thing when i give up on that.
blech.

2. have her very loud "sister" in her cage
i did have it in the back yard yesterday, but put it on the porch at night. got her "tree" on the picnic table, and her basket on top of the trailer. running a cd with a guy whistling that they like.
she is an african gray, so she is hard to see up there. she responds pretty reliably to whistles, tho.

3. I'm so sorry, we lost one the same way
We were moving from Mass back to MD and somehthing spooked her. She had never flown out the room she lived in but that day she flew out the door, down the hall made a turn down another hall and out the door. We spent all day with one of us moving things into the truck and the other watching and calling. We had to leave the next morning.

at least she has plenty of sounds to tell her the way.
well, i'm off to get on the bike, and ride. i don't think she will go too far.

5. i'm back to make a flyer.
i took a quick bike ride, but it was pointless to talk to all the dog walkers without something to give them.

6. well, she is alive, but still loose.
spent the whole day riding my bike around, whistling and posting flyers. i did find her, saw her, but could not get her down out of the tree. she is just not that good of a flyer. she wants to fly to me, but she is chicken. she got scared out by a gust of wind, but i lost track of her.
it rained for a while, which really worried me. but i did hear her after that. it is dark now, i am cold and wet and in need of a beer.
she is only a block from home. i will be out again tomorrow. she should be getting desperate enough to come down by then.
wish me luck.

10. she is a timneh african grey
couldn't loose the lory- bright red and purple and never shuts up. no.
she is so hard to see up in those trees. and she is so scared. she is a quiet and timid girl anyway. she has never really been outside. and hardly gets a chance to fly, as she is usually clipped.

11. I love African greys
My b/f had one for many years before it passed away. He taught him how to speak in Spanish and then he never stopped talking.

Hope all turns out well.
