My son just threatened the cat at gunpoint!
:wtf:

Okay, I want to start by saying that I'd never give a kid a toy gun. We only had them when I was a kid for safety training, my Dad is a responsible gun nut, so we were the only kids in America with cap guns we weren't allowed to point at people. But little boys have magic war-toy sensing powers, so my son found the gun from my 8 bit Nintendo and he's been menacing everybody in the house in it.

So I'm drifting in and out of sleep this morning, since I'm sick, and I wake up to hear him yelling. I look over and he's pointing the Nintendo Zapper (tm) at the cat and yelling "You! Eat this chickenish!" Needless to say, the cat was looking at him like he's lost his mind. For the record, the cat loves vanilla soymilk, but she doesn't want soy chicken patties.

4. Okay, but according to my intellectual property agreement
(previously applied in the Tofu Ghetto (TM) case,) you owe me a nickel everytime you use it.

3. "we were the only kids in America with cap guns we weren't allowed to
point at people" MrG and I grew up that way too. :hi:

Kids will make guns out of their hands if need be. That's hysterical.

8. He usually makes ray guns instead.
Or bows and arrows. I think it comes of having geeky parents. I try a little harder to avoid movies with guns than period peices with antiquated or futuristic weaponry, so as far as I know the only time he's ever seen somebody fire a gun is on Mythbusters, which he calls the 3 2 1 boom! show. :D

13. LeftyKid sounds adorable.
I tried with the non violent tv show thing... but MrG is not so very vigilant. "321 Boom"=

6. Long discussion on violence is necessary with this child.
Not immediately, since you're sick, but soon.

My grandson made a gun out of a piece of matzo (Jewish: unleavened bread, like a cracker) during Passover services.

What are you going to do with kids?

Talk to them... that's the best you can do.

Violence only leads to death, injury, and more death.

10. I'll talk to him about it, and about being nice to the cat
She hisses and scares him sometimes, usually when she's afraid of him, and I think he's trying to regain the upper hand there. He is a very gentle kid, I'm not sure what that was all about. Maybe role playing something he saw on TV or a movie at his Dad's house? I'll ask, because that was really out of charachter.

11. That's funny.
When my older son was 4 he asked for a gun for Christmas. We were a very anti-gun household at the time. His Dad sat him down and told him that guns were dangerous and used to kill people, blah, blah, blah. Our son gave him a peculiar look and said "DAd, I don't want a REAL one."

His Grandmother ended up giving him a cowboy set and that was that. He and his brother loved to play "Get shot and die." IF they didn't have a toy gun they would make them out of legos or use sticks.

THey grew up to be sane progressive, non gun owning adults. Go figure. :eyes:

15. A couple of reactions, LM.
Is "chickenish" a real product, or could he be trying to say "chickenshi_}?

He is not too young to begin serious responsible gun ownership principals.

Even with imaginary guns.

You're gonna have to be a step ahead of this little one, LM

-- or at least running to catch up.

So come chase him on the beach with Gus!

18. Chickenish is his word for soy "chicken" patties
The label usually says chik'n or something, but his Dad and I didn't want him to confuse the offer of the real thing for the fake, so we came up with a word that sounded different.

I'll talk to him about the gun thing later. I'm pretty sick right now, and he's going to see his paternal grandparents while they're in town, so it'd be in one ear and out the other anyhow. I'll see about coming down to visit on one of my days off school once I feel a bit better. :)

17. My grandson made a "gun shooter"
out of a piece of toast.
His mom is VERY anti-gun.
NO toy guns allowed.
But they will just figure out a way to get their hands on one.
