Are Recruiters/Headhunters Among the Most Irritating Sales People?

I've received a dozen letters from recruiters who ignore what I've posted in online job searches: i.e., "I will not accept interviews at law firms."

A few days ago, I got a letter from a recruiter who wrote only "Please submit your msword formatted resume. Thanks!!"

I replied (in short) that I was temping until I found something permanent near my home, but that if he had jobs in So. MD I'd be glad to talk to him. And "PS On what site did you see my resume?"

His reply: "When can you come in to meet with me?" That was all he wrote. Guess what? He's not getting an answer. :eyes:

Yesterday I heard from another recruiter. His request showed that he actually comprehended what I'd posted online. And he had the best and most polite way, so far, of asking if I'll reconsider about law firms:

"I read your resume and profile and I am curious. Is there any amount of money or any working atmosphere that would make you reconsider working in a law firm again?

"If so please call, we would love to work with you."

I can't blame the guy for trying, so I tried to let him down easy:

"I appreciate your interest -- very much.

"The reason I left *law firm* is that I learned about the temperament of most attorneys. I couldn't bear any longer the arrogance and sense of superiority. The worst part, though, was the lack of respect for administrative and support staff.

"I'm not interested in exorbitant salaries. Money is not important to me. To return to work in DC, there's room for bargaining but the offers would have to start at $XXk. But even if I were offered $XXXk, I won't return to work at a law firm.

"Right now I am using temp work to generate income as I search for just the right job here in Southern Maryland (so you see, money really is not that important). I'm giving myself a little time for this selective search before I subject myself once again to the commute to DC. If I must return to DC, it won't be at a law firm.

"If you represent any companies, organizations, etc., that are not law firms or lobbyists, and if my So. MD job search reaches a dead end, I'll be happy to speak with you about opportunities. Failing that, I'm sorry to disappoint you."

Do you think he'll reply, "but-but-but" ??? :7
