I'm moving all my big stuff today. With a bad back. Wish me luck.
Today is theday I rent a U-Haul and bring my large items over to my beach hideawy. A dresser, night stand, dining room set,a large oak headboard unit, 32" TV, end tables.... plus all the little things that havent made their way over here yet.

My two oldest sons, both 6'3" will be there as will my ex-girlfriend(now my best pal), to help.
Lets see, closed toe soes, CHECK, back brace, CHECK, vicodin CHECK.

I'm not looking forward to this but now my new place will be complete.
My girlfriend will be missing all this fun due to the fact tht she has to work.

Pray for maveric's back DUers.

1. My dear maveric!
Incoming prayers, baby!

I'd let your strapping young healthy sons do the heavy lifting, if I were you.....

Please take care of your back, OK?

And have some fun!

It's going to be a beautiful day, and perfect for moving...

2. The sun is shining here in Ocean Beach.
A grand day it shall be. My boys will do the bullwork while my fiend and I pack the small stuff.
Moving the stuff into my little shanty will bethe hard part. I have an old driveway thats about six feet wide with people parking right to the edge of the curb.backingthe U-Hail in the driveway will be interesting.
Thanx Peggy!

3. Ah, but when it's done, you'll be living in Ocean Beach.
Hope the move goes smoothly.

4. Our last two moves I hired movers. That way, I don't ask friends to
help me move and they don't ask me.

Good luck with your move -- I feel your pain.

5. Let your sons do as much as possible
And remember to lift with your legs! As one bad back to another (right now, I have the rather comical situation of having a bad knee as well - torn meniscus which causes my left knee to periodically collapse while sending a bolt of white hot pain shooting up and down my leg. Very pleasant. My job consists of lifting heavy cases of booze all day long - averaging 40 to 60 pounds. I can't use my back to lift as I have a creaky lower back and I can't use my left leg so my lifting technique consists of me sliding my left leg out to the side, bending my right and using that one leg to lift. Lots of fun to watch. Vicodin is my friend).

7. Be careful!!!
I've got a balky back, to I know what you're going through (I just moved about a month ago). Try to let the others do most of the heavy lifting, and when you're all done, take a long, hot shower (or better, a hot soak in epsom salts), and take a low dose of advil for a couple of days to keep potential inflammation down. It'll reduce the chance of getting back spasms later.
