A poem I wrote years ago...now it reminds me of bush!
It's a long story as to why I wrote it (though I can say I lived in a motel in Tehachapi, CA, at the time). I was re-reading it tonight and it made me think of bush...

A curious darkness stands in the light
Accuser talking where sets no night
Longing for his time.

A time, a place, where he will descend
A pit from which out of he will ascend
And I see. And so I witness.

I visit places in dreams forgotten
I see the evil even unspoken
By chance encounter, no words aloft
Seeing into souls that rot

I scream inside words try to erupt
No good will come, change is lost
I cannot change them it is too late
The road is paved, journey begun

Powerless to stop it, prophecy to be fulfilled
A silent witness to the world. Silent screams.
They cannot see as I do, I am me alone.
Detached I scream inside, can’t you see??

A melancholy spirit like a fog descends
Down down upon all men
And a wickedness foretold begins
In the hearts of mortal men

Settled in with less to fear
Masters of their own destinies they believe
The unseen hand writes on the wall of history
Am I the only one who sees?

So great to almost deceive even chosen ones
It drifts into the minds of all
Settling down a calmness grows
Like an odorless cloud of gas taking hold

They laugh and ridicule and do not want to believe
Trusting in their own powers
They fail to see. The ghost of the past cometh.
A demon called man rides in ignorance to death.

Long ago they showed us all these things
We ignore them and laugh at the king
I too am guilty. Ashamed.
I see in fear and in anger rises a silent shout.

Now the storm clouds gather dark across the lands
And mankind works with a solitary hand
Behind the curtain I see puppet strings
Guided by the evil fallen king

Laughing at our self made despair
Accusing us is the king of air
Back and forth he travels with tales
And shows the kingdom our wicked ways

Self rule, no king needed or wanted
Rebellious children we aimlessly wander
Into the desert and our darkest night
On our own, no ruler wanted

(my personal favorite line)
Arrogance and pride fill our hearts
And so we worship the king of the pit
Not by rote but by our omissions
We serve the silent one

No writings to claim of his own
Only a mask to confuse our souls
We see one in a book we all know
And choose to abandon
(above - book here = constitution)

In forsaking one we embrace another
And rationalize our deeds with hollow knowledge
We leave the king to follow another
Who deceives us

No king! No king! He silently shouts
And so we follow him
A king without a title. We blind ourselves
A forgery of light

Part ii

The bells toll of tribulation
And birds refuse to sing
Dark clouds on the horizon gather
When approaches our elected king
Shutters open when wicked winds blows
Inviting evil to openly flow
Rivers to blood as pale horse rides
Stealthily riding cross our skies

A cold wind blows as our hope dies
When the pale horse starts his ride
Hallowed shrines by the wayside fall
The inner temple defiled by lies
