Couple Gets $36,000 For Teeth They Paid 10 Cents For

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Two whale teeth with hand-craving etchings -- 20 cents. Selling them ten years later -- nearly $36,000.

Virginia and Paul Willards of Warrington said they learned of their find when they went on the PBS show Antiques Roadshow. An appraiser estimated the six-inch teeth dated back to the early 1800s. He helped the couple sell them this summer.

One went for $17,400 and the other for $18,560.

Virginia said she bought the teeth at an estate sale because she liked the sketchings they had of tall ships.

The couple plans to use the money to finish building a new home. Their previous home was flooded by Hurricane Ivan.
