Poll question: How many people can one man fire in a month before
you would start thinking that the problem is NOT with the people but, with the man himself? what about how many people in a year?

2. Sometimes you might need to fire a whole slew of employees to straighten

out a mess.

3. I can see doing that all in one fell swoop....
and starting with a clean slate...but this man has had 4 and 1/2 years and still no progress has been made that I can see..

5. I said "two".
But it really depends. How many people are working for him? If he has, say 50 people, two in a month would not indicate he is a problem. On the other hand, from what you've said, I'd say your boss is the problem. Maybe he is getting pressure from above, hence the sudden spurt of firings?:hi:

7. Perhaps he's trying to weed out the worst of the bunch.

Also remember that ... It takes time to properly acclimate the replacements.

10. It sounds like he needs to take a month off so things can settle down..

Hospitals don't run well while there is chaos everywhere.

It would be a tragedy if the patients start to suffer,

11. i think it would take longer than a month for things to settle
down. it takes at least 6 months before a new hire can really be considered an asset and all we have right now is new hires!! some of these are leaving before their 90 days are up!!

he has let negotiations with our Drs disintegrate to the point that they do not care if their contract is picked up or not.

We can run without an administrator but how can we run without doctors???

He uses scare tactics to manipulate people and he puts people down in front of other people and I don't care for his style of management. I am willing to call it a personality conflict for the sake of diplomacy.

but, if I ever see him out....:kick:...wildhorses stampede!!!

maybe this is a click that goes as high up as the VP...but, I don't know if it goes as high up as the Pres.

whatever happened to teamwork and pitching in and rolling up your sleeves and not asking someone to do something that you yourself would NOT do??

I suppose he needs to learn how to do his job better.

BTW Is he trying to hire competent employees or future dates?

you guys, whether you know or not, are helping me make a life altering decision. I have come to love y'all and trust the consensus. It seems that somewhere in all the hoopla we manage to find the seed of truth and light the candle of justice in this darkness of ignorance that abounds.

Here! Here!

24. Is there anything common among those fired?
Age, race, gender, et cetera?

Reason I ask is, seven of us were fired from a newspaper about three years ago. At least one of the seven noticed that all were over 40 and consulted an attorney. We sued for age discrimination and settled.

29. well, they are all white females...
one in her twenties and the other two in their fourties...but, I would really like to see his record for the past year. It has been happening but, it got really blatant this month.

Also, I think the rate of people leaving needs to be looked into...that shows some disatisfation and turmoil and makes me wonder if as an outsider they saw something that we couldn't see.

As in: we couldn't see the forest for looking at the trees...

31. Sometimes, the boss has another agenda, like avoiding workers comp
I worked for a very short time at an insurance office which consisted of the owner, and two employees of which I was one of those employees. Believe me, they don't have the physical room for more than two employees with 7 large file cabinets and two desks in an 11x11 room! The AHole fired me after only a month and a half. Others had come before me, and I would see the ad for the position a couple of times a year after I was let go. I asked the unemployment office if there was something this guy was gaining by keeping people only a short time, and they told me that they did not have to pay workmans comp or something if it was under a certain period of time.

He made me work mandatory overtime, which he never paid me for and he never gave me lunch breaks.
I should report him to the Labor Board....really.
