Magazine Names America's Best Beer (Firestone Walker Pale Ale)
<snip>

Where is the best beer in America?

According to Men's Journal magazine, it's in Paso Robles, Calif.

The magazine ranked Firestone Walker Pale Ale as the best beer in America, followed by Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, which is produced in Milton, Del.

Rounding out the top five are Stoudt's Pils, of Adamstown, Pa.; Russian River Temptation Ale, of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and Avery Mephistopheles' Stout, of Boulder, Colo.

It has chosen what the editors call the top 25 craft brews that this country has to offer.

The company said its editors put their "sensitive palettes to the test" and have determined the most flavorful microbrews, also judging on the basis of it being refreshing while appealing to a variety of different tastes.

Men's Journal's third annual survey of the Best Beers in America is featured in its October issue.

5. Oh, how cool to see RRBC get a shout-out!
For those in the area (I'm not anymore, but will be back to visit), the brewmaster at Russian River is also the brewmaster at a teeny pub just north of Santa Rosa in Cloverdale called Rose McGowan's. They do the absolute best nut-brown ale I've ever had--they used to make it seasonally, but it's so popular that it's now permanently on tap: Monster Brown Ale. They don't bottle any ale, but you can get growlers to go.

16. Actually, I don't drink beer much. However, when you're in tiny little
towns in western Oklahoma (as I was for a long time) you don't have a lot of choice as to what is available. I've many favorite beers, having traveled all over the world. With that said, I'm not a domestic beer snob, even though I know it is seriously lacking. I was a bartender for years, and part of my routine was visting the other bartenders. I wouldn't touch Budweiser or Coors products even if someone else paid for them.

21. Sensitive palettes? This beer tastes like paint!
Unfortunately, the Men's Journal website http://www.mensjournal.com/toc/index.html doesn't give enough of an excerpt from their articles to say whether they really spelled it that way or if it was just somebody particularly slack writing for the TV station at Matcom's link, but it's still funny as all hell.
