Are you relatively new to the Democratic Underground? If you are, then on behalf of myself, newyawker99, and all the other "old-timers" here at DU, I welcome you!!!!!

Feel free to hit the 'reply' button and say Hi to your fellow DUers! Tell us about yourself, how you found DU, your impressions, and so forth!

Here are a few things to know:

1. DU is the best website out there! It were founded on Duh-bya's inauguration day, January 20, 2001.
   
2. The administrators--Skinner, EarlG, and Elad—work hard, but they’re also very friendly.
   
3. Many DUers say Lieberman is too much of a Bush supporter to be the nominee.
   
4. Most DUers consider Democratic Senator Zell Miller of Georgia to be a Republican.
   
5. A word of warning: The General Discussion forums are very hot with debate. Enter cautiously!

Do you know much about HTML (such as bolding, italicizing, or underlining text)? If not, this thread can help you.

Many DUers use jargon you might not understand. Here you can find the DU Glossary, compiled by DUer AmyStrange.

Love this website, especially "Top Ten Conservative Idiots", but how many posts before I'm no longer considered a newbie? I know there are those that are suspicious of us with few posts when they really don't need to be.

Please don't let others who may point out post numbers get you down. If they do so, it is a rule violation. Just hit the alert button and the mods will take care of it.

There is no official number that tells someone that he/she is no longer a newbie. I see you have 70 posts so I personally think that you are no longer a newbie. :-)

I was a registered member for about a year before I dared to post. The first few posts were not very comfortable. In fact it still isn't. But these people are so incredibly nice and kind, you will feel like you are talking to your best friend after a couple of exchanges. I was having an issue and I threw it out there....and I can't tell you how much better I felt because of the responses. One gal sent me a CD. Just knowing that I am not alone in this world is a very empowering feeling. Please don't be shy...Come on in...The water is fine ;) AND if you are the last one on a post...kick it back up...there are 34000 people here that may have missed it...:)

I am new.... in fact this is my first post.... A friend of mine happened upon this site and sent me an e-mail... He thought I might fit in here..... given my proclivities......... (he is a flaming conservative!!! Yeah I know.. what was I thinking??)....
