What are your 3 all-time favorite films?
Mine:
1) Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb. (choice dialoge, great cast)
2) The Big Lebowski (good dialogue, the one movie I quote the most)
3) Clerks (best J & SB movie; however, Dogma is damn close...)

You?

37. When my father was in high school...
...he did a survey of his class and found out the favorite movie was "How Green Was My Valley." I finally saw it only a few years ago, but probably will never be able to see it without thinking of my father.

It's hard for me to pick only three favorites, but I'll try:

Casablanca

Bringing Up Baby

Sense and Sensibility

All are films that can be enjoyed again and again.

18. To Kill a Mockingbird
I don't know how I forgot that one in my previous posts! It's definitely near the top of my favorites. I loved it when I was a child, and it's gotten better with maturity.

Two more from my early youth:
The Wizard of Oz
Growing up in the sixties this was an annual event, and it holds a very warm place in my heart.

Robin Hood (with Errol Flynn)
This film represents all the swashbuckling adventure movies I loved as a kid, and I must admit I had quite an 8-year-old's crush on Olivia DeHavilland.

32. It didn't measure up to the book.
To Kill a Mockingbird, I mean. The movie was okay as far as it went, but it left out some of the best parts in order to concentrate on the main plot.

38. I read the book
And of course, as in almost all cases, the book takes you places where the movie doesn't.

But I saw the movie and loved it long before I read the book, and Gregory Peck and the rest of the cast really brought it to life, IMO.

54. Well, I read the book first.
And subsequently, the movie didn't impress me.

For those who've only seen one or the other, the movie leaves out a lot of the story, but the parts that are included remain very true to the book. If you've read the book, you'll know exactly what's going to happen in the movie.

"Walkabout" is an Austrailian environmental film from the early 70's...absolutely beautiful.

"Latcho Drom" is an art film about Gypsy music and culture...no real plot....visually powerful, wonderful soundtrack.

2. Mindwalk (1990-story that explains that we are all interconnected and explains a whole new way of thinking of world problems)

3. Much Ado About Nothing(1972-film adaptation of Shakespeare's play, set in turn of the twentieth century America)

One thing in common with all these films? Sam Waterston!
