Grace Potter and the Nocturnals... AMAZING new band!!
Their website:

http://www.gracepotter.com/

They are from Vermont, but their sound is Nawlins, baby!! I mean, that's what some of their stuff sounds like it comes from.

I heard them in the car tonight, in a rebroadcast of a live performance on WFUV, my favorite radio station.

Grace's singing reminds me of Janis Joplin. She is really really good. She also plays keyboards and guitar. The rest of the band is guitar, bass and drums. The band plays great, tight blues and rock backup to her vocals. I mean, they really kick ass.

You can listen to the same show I heard here, if you have fast internet:

http://www.wfuv.org/

click on "Archives" in the left side menu. Then select the show "Words and Music Guest Artists". Then scroll all the way nearly to the end, until you see "Grace Potter and the Nocturnals". Click there and listen!! (the stream is a little bumpy, but stay with it)

You heard it here first, folks. They are the best new band I have heard in decades, anywhere. They were here in NYC tonight, but I found out too late. I will be catching one of their shows coming up in New England, probably New Haven, 9/27.

9. Yes, it's a great FM station.
However, some of the DJ's play really awful stuff occasionally.

Yesterday afternoon, they played a version of "Whiter Shade of Pale" that was truly horrible. Beyond words. I must find out who the band was, so I can properly record it as...

Worst. Record. Ever.:puke:

I'll definitely check it out, via streaming.
