George Thorogood - opinions?
I don't own a single one of his albums yet I never pass up a chance to see him live.

Go figure.

2. Christ, I used to see him in the sleazy bars on South Street in
Philadelphia, back in the 1970s. I don't blame you for wanting to see him live, assuming he's still as good as he was back then. Trivia: Back then, it was George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers.

Damn, I'm old. I used to see Bruce Springsteen in bars on the Jersey shore (free) as well. And at the Main Point in Pennsylvania for four bucks.

5. Did you drive to the shows in your Flintstones mobile??
I'm kidding, I'm kidding...I would give anything to see Bruce in a bar. That must have been absolutely amazing!!

8. Yeah, well I'm 47
I've seen him plenty of times, yet don't own an album. Saw him last year and it was as electrifying as ever, but his studio stuff, yawn.

He remains truly amazing on stage.

3. I apologize for disliking his recordings intensely.
I wrote a very negative review of a disc of his for the Phoenix New Times maybe 12 years ago.

I'm glad everyone who likes him has found a performer that they enjoy.

7. written by John Lee Hooker, IIRC
I guess that sums up my love/hate relationship with George -- all the freaking covers.

But he's an awesome live performer.
