New name for "The View" -- "The Rosie O'Donnell Show with friends"
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 12:38 PM by Radio_Lady
Sorry. I don't think it's going to be the same without Meredith Vieria and Star Jones.

I turned it off after the segment on Barbara Walters' talking dog....

1. Did anyone watch the "Today" show? I missed it...
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 12:39 PM by Radio_Lady
I think it was Meredith's first program, and I slept through it.

2. For some reason, I watched part of it.
She seemed a lot more at ease at her new job than Katie Couric seems at hers. But then again, going from The View to Today is pretty much a lateral move.

3. I agree with you.
Katie, however, is tackling a whole new format. I watched the first day, but really prefer other programming to any of the networks at that time.

Usually, I've already seen Keith Olbermann (his show is on at 5 PM Pacific Time, and replays at 8 PM), and probably part of Larry King (6 PM, replays at 9 PM) if we're running late making dinner.

At dinner, we switch off the TV and listen to KBPS (classical music) or KMHD (jazz music).

I hate news with meals, that that's why her 6:30 PM timeslot doesn't work for me.

9. What she wears on her head influences her political opinions.
Everybody knows that.

7. Rosie's the only reason I would ever watch that show.
I found it vapid and silly. I LOVE Rosie. She tells it like it is. Well, except for that bizarre affectation for Tom Cruise.

13. She referred to some woman today -- Jessica??? -- another crush.
I like Rosie too, but enough is enough.

I wouldn't like it if she were married to a man -- this has nothing to do with her sexual orientation.

Hope Kelly is not the jealous type. I happen to think she's very beautiful!

8. Love Meredith, don't always love Rosie as much.
Meredith did very well this morning. I watch The View regularly just to try to catch Elisabeth making an ass of herself (common occurrence). Rosie did crack me up with one comment today, though. When discussing Dancing with the Stars, she said that Tucker Carlson is the AV geek in high school who really wants to be popular. AV geeks, I love you, and TC would give you a bad name, but still, it was funny.

10. Watched both today, to show Meredith some love
Man, it's exhausting zipping through 4+ hours of morning TV, even with a fast-forward remote. Thank goodness for unemployment. :) (And a spouse with a good job.)

Meredith seemed right at home and will do well, but there's just too much padding on "Today" for me to watch it. Alas. (Maybe if she's doing a special interview.) Based on her comments over the years, I think Meredith's a moderate Dem, or very, VERY liberal Republican. (She did comment that she and Richard, her husband, saw "Brokeback Mountain," and she found it "beautiful," which doesn't imply right-wing thinking.)

Rosie is definitely dominating "The View"--she's gracious about letting all the women talk and share time during Hot Topics, but I've noticed that she's in almost every segment of the show, where they used to mix it up more. (Elizabeth and Meredith would do one segment, Joy and Star do another, etc.) I wonder what's up with that. Still, she's a lot of fun to have back on TV. (I liked that sharp line about Tucker Carlson too, and having watched "Dancing With The Stars," she was dead-on in her assessment.)

And--egad!--Megan Mullally's new show kicks off next week. It's all too much!

11. She needed a little sense of humor today
I mean Chilltown from Big Brother are annoying, but I couldn't help laugh at their phone conversations. And they provided the best entertainment of the All Stars season.

Still, if she riles Elisabeth, it's worth sitting through moments like today.

14. I wish someone would box up Rosie and cryogenically freeze her
and no unfreeze her until after I'm dead.

Yes, she has a right to exist. But not while I do.

18. Is the fundie wingnut twit the young idiot at the other end of the
table from Rosie?

I watched a bit of the View on 9-11 (accidentally, after the Regis show) and she was such an ugly (inside) bitch.

23. LOL. It used to be FIVE women. Who's replacing Star Jones, by
the way?

Now they have four women interrupting each other, one old white lady (I can say it!)who used to be a liberal when I knew her, one young white lady who's right wing, and two white comediennes (OK, one's a lesbian and one is heterosexual).

They need a young ASIAN or BLACK woman who we hope will be a Democrat!

Maybe they can recruit from the new "Survivor" -- now separated by race?

:sarcasm:

25. UPDATE: SO, what happened on "The View" today that got the
Republicans all huffy? I heard that people were emailing ABC to make Rosie retract whatever she said...

Just curious, if you have the facts!

26. Well, she told the truth
She said (paraphrasing) that fundamentalist Christians are just as damaging as fundamentalist Muslims. And she's right, of course, but no fundamentalist Christian will ever see it that way. AND she now works for ABC, which makes it worse.

27. Religious zealots of ALL persuasions are responsible for most
of the fighting and killing all over the world.

So, will ABC make her apologize? For what?

Wasn't it ABC that dumped Bill Maher for saying that the terrorists were heroic for flying into the World Trade Center?
