So...I have to move. Boo.
I just found out that my apartment complex is raising the rent by $300/month. THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS A MONTH. They haven't done any improvements to speak of. The building was built in 1986. It's a nice place, but good freaking god...that rate increase is the same as my car payment!

So now I'm doing the dreaded apartment hunt.

Oh, the beauty part? My lease is up on December 31. So much for going home for Christmas. Fuck.

2. hahahaha
you're cute. No. In fact, they're no longer paying for utilities that used to be included.

They seem to think that the area is up and coming. There's a lot of new "luxury" apartment construction, but that's been going on since before I moved here a year ago. There is not, however, any other new buildings. No new stores. No new restaurants. The area is nice, but nothing fabulous. Certainly nothing to justify rents that high.

4. I guess not.
When I signed a 6 month lease in July it went up $100. And I just called the apartment complexes near mine and they're all going from around $1300 to around $1600.

5. If you live with the city of L.A limits.. check this out

if you don't - do a search for 'rent control' and your city's name. It's very common here.

bummer

10. Yeah, fabulous, eh.
I mean, I'm fine with moving. I'm not loving my apartment managers anyway, and I can take or leave the neighborhood.

But the timing is AWFUL!

Though it looks like I may be gaining a really fun roomie...we'll see!

14. Yup, maybe!
She's also got a tenuous living situation. We're aiming for Studio City, which I greatly prefer to my current location anyway. It's just way to expensive there to live alone. But with 2 people... :bounce:

11. Hee hee, well...
I would offer to fix you dinner as payment, but I don't want to kill you and I'm guessing Kraft Mac & Cheese isn't good enough. But I have time to figure something else out... ;)

Yeah, $300/month. Can you believe that shit? $1500 for that apartment. Put the crack down and step away from the pipe.

15. Hehe...I accept bought dinners as payment.
I'm easy AND cheap. :D Annie's Mac and Cheese is much better than Kraft though. ;)

They're acting as though they're doing you some sort of favor too. The sad thing is, I bet it works. :(

19. I think I have all my meals planned now.
Sushi. Tommy's. Now this. I'm also going to attempt to con one of our attorneys out there into buying me lunch one day, too. He already said I deserved a day off. I'll settle for free food. :D

12. Thank you.
I'm already talking to one of my friends about being roomies. We could afford an even better part of the city that way.

18. And stupid ones too
Nobody's going to stay and pay those prices, so they're going to have to fill most of the building, while competing with similarly priced complexes that are 25 years newer...and right across the street.

STU-PID.
