QB hit of the century
In light of the hit Trent Green took Sunday I present to you Wilbur Marshall on Joe Ferguson. Poor Joe was out cold before he even hit the ground.

One of the hardest hits on a QB I have ever seen, by one of the hardest hitters. Wilbur Marshall put many big hits on QBs in the 80's, this was just one of them. With today's rules to help protect the QB in the NFL, you will probably never see a hit as hard as this one again. This is the Chicago Bears vs the Detroit Lions in 1985.

2. I've seen some better too
I didn't name the you tube page but this one just put him out cold. Definitely an illegal hit these days.

4. I tried to pause it and still I could barely see the actual hit, just the
before and after.

5. There's a replay at the end
but I agree, camera work in 1985 isn't what it is today. Today there'd be slo-mo from 4 different angles.

6. Sorry, but I don't think that's something to celebrate. And that's said
as a guy who used to play football until his brains fell out.

9. "Night Train" Lane vs. Frank Gifford
I forget what year that was, but Lane hit Gifford so hard that he remained unconscious for several minutes. It's said that polite people don't mention Lane in Gifford's presence, and I wouldn't be surprised if he had nightmares about it afterward. In fact, a lot of players had nightmares about Dick Lane.

11. wow...
not that the vid is the hardest hit i've seen; it's funny to remember how long ago it seems to the era when the QB was truly free target practice!

12.  OH MY GOD THEY'VE KILLED DON BEEBE!!
1:22 this isn't the hit that the comment above applies to though but it a real snot smasher
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVuG7d4vKLA

the one the subject line refers to was one that Beebe took and his arm was frozen out away from his body after he hit the ground. That was my reaction to it, we laughed.
