there is a difference between ignorance and stupidity....
Ignorance can be be cured, stupidity cannot.

Sometimes I wonder where over half of our country falls on all of this.....

1. Willful ignorance
is the same as stupidity. I know a number of intelligent people who insist on remaining ignorant (Faux is their sole new source, etc.) Scary, really...

12. You beat me to it
Stupidity can be forgiven and ignorance can be changed, but there's no excuse for willful ignorance.

2. I look at it like this:

stupidity (though that's not a very nice word) is a condition some of us are born with; it doesn't affect character. Ignorance is a lifestyle defect that can be corrected and it can, indeed, affect character. I'm stupid in a lot of ways, but I try hard not to be ignorant.

3. You just called yourself stupid.
Don't ever do that again.

4. I am stupid in some ways.
I'm not ashamed to admit that. For example, I was born with a natural math dysfunction that I've worked very hard to overcome. It's only since I was about 35 that numbers or any abstract application of numbers made sense to me. I personally don't believe stupid is the worst thing a person can be.

6. OK, I'll stop.
Not because you told me to, but because I made my point. :P

8. That's OK.
I do not seek to establish a flock of believers. :P

9. Now, you see?
I happen to know that only stupid people seek to establish a flock of believers.

Ha ha! Try to wiggle out of that one!

13. Then there are the truly stupid who choose to remain ignorant.
They are lost causes.
