Weird nature things going on.....
I was reading a post in GD about the lack of Fireflies this year.
And I was thinking about the weird things going on in my neck of the woods.
We have a pool and alot of trees. In July we usually are paying the kids to pick up the nuts out of the pool so we can vacuum it.
Then in August it seems every squirrel in northern NJ is in these trees eating the nuts and taking off the green outside to get to the inside. I guess so they have food for the winter. Well so far NADA, nothing, not one nut in the pool or one squirrel in the trees eating them.
I was also commenting to my husband that the Rose of Sharon's just bloomed along with my Longwood Blues...
They both usually bloom in late July/early august. And yes we actually did not have alot of lightening bugs or believe it or not mosquitoes! Just loads of spiders.
So anything weird going on by you???
And what do you think it means??? I have no idea

1. I can't say about your squirrels, but

we have had one hideous ant problem. We have had them attack and take over in all sizes since late August. I think we are going to have a hard early winter. Usually my grandmother would say that when you get an infestation of something right before fall.

We have had piss ants, medium sized ants and these strange huge ants with bright red and black stripes. I'm talking huge. I have heard of army ants, but these are different. My stepdad says they hurt more like a sting than a bite if they do bite you. I have a gut feeling I will eventually win the battle with the ants who come inside (I don't normally bother anything living outside), but I wonder if I will be driven nuts in the process.

2. Many house flies this year
in S. California. It has been a hot and humid summer here (unusual too) and I think the increase in flies is due to that.

3. I don't know but it has something to do with Bush.
I wouldn't put it past him to steal your nuts.
