For my Dad on his Birthday

No one, no event, no entity, can take away this day and its meaning from you.

For the man who taught me right from wrong.
Who taught me to love books, and the value of education.
Who taught me how to hold a baseball bat, and to swing a golf club.
Who played football with me in the yard.
Who instilled in me a love of history, and the importance of keeping up with current events.
Who taught me the basics of chess.
Who set an example for me on the dignity of work and the pride in earning a dollar.
Who made sure our family had food to eat and a roof over our heads.
Who served his country with honor and risked his life in Vietnam.
Who guided me through college and the path to independence.

For my Dad, September 11, 2006... Happy Birthday! I love you.
