Anybody see "The Farmer's Wife"?

David Sutherland Frontline series.

I was bummed to read this update http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/farmerswife/etc/update.html

For those that haven't, I recommend it. Follows a farming family for 3 years.

1. Was that the one....

where the wife was trying to better herself through education and was not quite being the "farm wife" her husband's parents thought she should?? And she temporarily left her husband during the series? I remember watching a multi-part PBS series years ago about a husband and wife farming -- this has got to be it.

I had the feeling they were going to evetually divorce, sadly. He was a basic kinda guy, perfectly content to continue the life he has always led -- she just didn't seem happy in that life.

2. What they did in the series was pretty daring.

From what I recall, it was a pretty frank examination their lives together. Since it ended on rather a hopeful if ambiguous note, I'm sorry to read the update. My gut reaction is that it's possible simply to repeat the same mistakes, despite changing outward circumstances. However, I hope that is not true in their case.
