My cable provider states that AOL is going out of business/bankrupt
I was at my sister's house watching the UCF/UF game on PPV, and the reception was bad, so my sister called the cable company. They asked what she wanted to do about her internet service, and said AOL is going out of business. I checked the cable company website, and it no longer lists AOL as a choice, only RoadRunner and Earthlink.

I am guessing they lost a lot of customers due to the search records of their customers being posted on the internet. Probably many other reasons, as well.

1. AOL's trying *not* to go out of business
A couple weeks ago they made their "service" free to anyone with another ISP. (If you use AOL as your ISP, it's still $9.95 per month.)

Maybe your cable provider is extrapolating.

2. In these matters, it is hard to know who is right.

I did hear about AOL offering the service free if you have another ISP, though.

I can't imagine how much money AOL had to get througout the years to go out of business. Sounds like bad management, if that is indeed the case.

I did a google search of "aol going bankrupt" and there weren't any exact hits.

5. I've been ignoring them since they were a start-up, planning on
providing Atari 2600 games via modem.
