Once Bitten Twice Shy :headbang:

Well the times are getting hard for you little girl
I'm a hummin' and a strummin' all over God's world
You can't remember when you got your last meal
And you don't know just how a woman feels

Until you met my drummer on a grey tour bus
You didn't know what rock and roll was
I got there in the nick of time
Before he got his hands across your state line, yeah

Now it's the middle of the night on the open road
The heater don't work and it's oh so cold
The rhythm of the street sure knocks you off your feet
You're lookin' tired, you're lookin' kinda beat

You didn't know how rock and roll looked
Until you caught your sister with the guys from the group
Half way home in the parking lot
By the look in her eye she was given what she got

My my my I'm once bitten twice shy baby
My my my I'm once bitten twice shy baby

Woman you're a mess, gonna die in your sleep
Can't keep you home, you're messin' around
My my my I'm once bitten twice shy
There's blood on my amp and my Les Paul's beat
My best friend told me you were the best lick in town

You didn't know that rock and roll burned
So you bought a candle and you lived and you learned
You got the rhythm you got the speed

Mama's little baby likes it short and sweet
Until I saw your picture on another guy's jacket

I didn't know you had a rock and roll record
You told me I was the only one
But look at you now it's dark and you're gone

My my my I'm once bitten twice shy baby
My my my I'm once bitten twice shy baby

1. My favorite song by Great White....ROCK ME....
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 10:15 AM by jus_the_facts
...reminds me of my youth 19 yrs old in 1986...crusin' into downtown Jackson, Mississippi...listenin' to this song on my way to get some good good lovin'...still with this dude to this very day..we'll be forever young and friends forever yet the passionate love has faded...sigh my my how time does fly! :evilgrin:

Sweet little baby
You don't have to go
Little baby
Tell me you won't go
We'd be so good together if we had the time
Bein' alone's a nowhere state of mind
Lovin' ain't no crime, oh no
I see your man ain't here
He don't care
The way of the night has gone
We'll move on
Got to find a way
To face another day

I search the world
For someone I'll never find
Someone who ain't
The hurtin' kind
If you stay the night
We'll make the wrong seem right
So come on now

Rock me
Rock me
Pull me throught the night

We'll burn in love tonight

Sweet little baby
Oh don't you go
You ain't so innocent, I know
I know your heart's like mine, oh yeah
And I will find the time
To make you mine
And if your love goes bad
If it makes you sad
I'll be back for more
At your door

Before the mornin' light
We'll burn with love tonight

And when your man don't care
I will be there
Still be lovin' real good love

There is no wrong or right
We'll burn with love

Rock me
Rock me
Pull me throught the night

We'll burn in love tonight

4. Cool band
I voted "underrated" even though they never really lived up to their true potential.

They did a track called "Wasted Rock Ranger" that was a b-side which is hilarious.

5. Yeah that's true......
....sucks what happened in RI...they were tryin' to make a comeback and tragedy struck to tarnish their image...one of my favorites is an obscure song...Face The Day...it's on their Greatest Hits CD. :hi:

Face The Day

I don't want to face the day the day, today

Long nights leave me stranded
Black visions, danger signs
No love- I need protection
Feels like I'm on a production line
Daggers of dawn, cold hearted day
Why does if have to be morning?
Cover my head, stayin' in bed
Too late the luckless warning

Outside the screaming city
Red lights, hungry eyes
Sucks like a space invader
The vacuum of its lies
Stealin' my strength, stealin' my time
It's raining in a world of traders

Let me keep on sleeping
Forget that I'm alone
One day of faceless living-
is twenty-four hours too long
I don't want to face the day

Give me the night, it's more forgiving
Hold back the light from my eyes
Please stay invisible darkness
can't see the tears that I cry
I know it's comin', loaded with nothing
Trapped in a tunnel of time

I don't want to face the day
The day, today

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WASTED ROCK RANGER :D
Well I'm a wasted rock ranger
I live the life of danger
On the road to find a higher high
I don't need no one's affection
All I need is my injection
An out-of-tune Les Paul'll get me by
I've been doin' gigs since I was ten
I really can't remember when
I ever had a dollar to my name
My ears are blown, my eyes are red
I got big holes inside my head
Snorting too much crystal and cocaine
I have bennies with the breakfast toast
Qualudes with the evening roast
Assorted snorts of powder in between
I don't think a day's gone by
That I wasn't drunk or high
It's the only way I keep my sanity
From Kegger's Den to Hooterville
My flaming tricks have topped the bill
A thousand empty bottles earn my name
Endless trains of one night stands
Sharing gigs with half-assed bands
And all the local groupies lay the same
Well I could have had a payin' job
Workin' for some fucked-up slob
Wife and family, true security
But I left that shit behind
For that heavy metal grind
'Cause rock'n roll is in my blood to stay
(among other things)
Hey! You're a wasted rock ranger
You'll live life of danger
Sing this song and follow it till the end
When you reach number one
You can overdose for fun
And go and visit Jimi and his friends
Hey! You're a wasted rock ranger
You'll live a life of danger
Sing this song and follow it till the end
When we reach number one
Hey! We'll all overdose for fun
And we'll hang out with Jimi and his friends
Yee haw!
6. "Face the Day" is a cover of a song by an Australian band,
The Angels (known as Angel City in America). I absolutely love that song, both the original and the cover. That was a great choice of cover.
9. The "rock and roll burned" line is strangely ironic, dontcha think?
Oh man, I got to get out of that place I work...the fucknuts who programs the Muzak we play is in love with Alanis Morrissette's "Ironic," which is right behind anything Sheryl Crow did on the shittiness scale--and not all that far behind, either.
I bet Jack Russell also didn't know that rock and roll burns until his band's pyro set a couple hundred pounds of cheap foam on fire.
11. Ironic and beyond tragic....no regulations were followed in that bar....
....I can't fault the band itself...except their fame had drawn too many people in an unsafe establishment. :(
13. The band is at fault too
I have read everything I could find about the Station Nightclub fire. So far, it looks like there are four main players in the catastrophe:
* Jack Russell: Great White's lead singer. This guy was SERIOUSLY into pyro. He apparently wouldn't play a concert without it. Since the Station fire, he's made two changes to his set: he won't do Desert Moon--the song they were playing when the club caught fire--and he won't use pyro.
* Daniel Biechele: This is the dumbass who fired the pyro.
* The Derdarian brothers, Jeffrey and Michael. They owned the club. Jeff Derdarian was a reporter for a television station, and he is famous for an expose on the flammability of polyurethane foam--the exact same kind of foam he soundproofed his club with. They're also responsible for painting the club's ceiling tiles black with asphalt roof coating; during the fire the asphalt served two purposes--conducting fire across the ceiling, which normally wouldn't happen on an acoustic tile ceiling because the product is fire-retardant; and causing a few deaths when burning asphalt dripped on some of the patrons. I know what you're thinking: why not use latex house paint? Ever try to paint a ceiling tile? They really can't BE painted--put paint on a ceiling tile and it will soak right in, and you'll never see it on the surface. The only way I've ever been able to do it and make the paint visible is to mix glue with the paint. Besides, a gallon of black paint is over $20; a gallon of Henry 201 Asphalt Roof Coating is $7.50--less if you buy the five-gallon buckets you'd need to use to paint a whole ceiling. And that's the good stuff--there are many far cheaper coatings that would do what they wanted. They also painted the fire doors black to match the walls--code requires them to be painted in a "contrasting color" so you can see them in a fire.
* American Foam Company. They sold the Derdarians the foam. There are conflicting stories here. One says the Derdarians insisted on using the cheapest egg-crate foam on the market, even though the label for the foam they used says it's only for packaging, not soundproofing. (Soundproofing foam is made from melamine, not polyurethane. The foam the Derdarians used was polyurethane.) One says American Foam recommended this particular product as ideal for their application. And a salesman who resigned from American Foam sent the prosecution a fax stating American Foam's policy was to not inform its customers as to the flammability of the foams they sold.
There's one thing the Station fire (too many code violations to list), the Beverly Hills Supper Club fire (fire caused by aluminum wiring which was ALLOWED by the National Electrical Code at the time the building was wired, lots of code violations), the Cocoanut Grove fire (flammable decorations, lots of code violations, lots of things that SHOULD have been code violations except that this fire essentially wrote the code), Happy Land Social Club, Imperial Food Products...teach us: this WILL happen again. And when it does, the first thing out of people's mouths will be "how could this have happened?"
