I got my arse handed to me at poker tonight
Not bad, was down $60 and made back $20, but damn, it took all night.

I do poker at my house every Friday night. Friendly game, $20 buy-in, dealer's choice, mostly Hold-em or stud games because we usually have more than five players, no limit but never out of hand, and everyone is friends.

Tonight was a neat table. It was me, a professional chef, a bouncer, an accountant, an Mac repair guy, a bartender, a physicist, and a sculptor. The accountant and sculptor got blown out early, the bartender had to leave to chase a girl, and the rest of us played until just a few minutes ago.

Great group of guys, but GOD DAMN, the cards were not there for me. I had a dozen great hands that went nowhere after the flop. We played a lot of Omaha tonight, (no hi-lo, just the four cards with the best two), and I think flushes won ten or eleven times. None of them, of course, were mine.

No wild cards. Of course.

Meh. I'll get 'em next week.

Night all. :toast:

7. Cool! So, when I win it all, will you promise to send me the money?
You can keep enough to buy everyone a round.

9. not bad
last time I had a poker night I was out 60 myself. In that game a friend of mine got trip kings twice in the game, and beat out my trip jacks/queens, in two seperate hands, and I was betting the farm just about, and I got caught badly...but I had to push it...:) 5 card stud...

11. I know the feeling...
losing with trip jacks, and queens in 5 card stud is rough. When I have nights like that I just assume its my "turn" to pay in...:)

13. I can not tell you how many damn times in my home game
that has happened to me. I don't even like getting pocket aces because I know that whoever I am playing with will bust me on them.

15. Let me guess
Not only is the south the only ones who know how to make the best chicken, make the best beef BBQ, make the best "down home cooking", have that "southern hospitality", know their football better than all others, treat their men and ladies right, have the best beer and love their country more, now they are the only ones who really know how to play poker? We fuckin' yanks don't know shit.

...guessed wrong. But we have some gamblers down here who would welcome fellow gamblers...:-)

But if you want to vent on the South, go ahead. Makes no never mind to me... :hi:

17. Everybody thinks they know how to play. But like Mike Sexton says,
"No Limit Hold-em takes ten minutes to learn, and a lifetime to master."
