Oh god, I am so hungry now.
I'm making indian food and I made the mistake of getting a good whif of the garam masala and now I'm ready to eat right. this. minute. I couldn't find any curry leaves though, I guess I'll have to do without until I can get to one of the little indian markets in the area.

4. A friend is coming out with a cookbook of vegan indian food and he
uses them a lot. Of course, he can just go get them from his front yard, because he lives in a much warmer climate.

5. I finally found a store that carried powdered curry leaf.
I haven't used it yet. Is the powdered stuff okay? I know nobody uses powdered bay leaf (although I guess in some indian recipes you do have to grind one now and then).

6. Apparently fresh is much better than dried
Generally with dried spices whole is better because you can grind it when it's time to use it and keep more of it's bloom, but ground is certainly better than none, which is all most parts of the country can get without mail order. We have umpteen indian groceries so I should be able to track some down.

7. I think I'll try mail order then.
I do most of my regular spices that way... why not curry leaves?
