Worst tasting medicine ever!!!
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 01:55 PM by BlueStorm
Xanax... whoever made this shit must be sadistic. I have to swallow whole gulps of milk just to get the bitter taste out of my mouth!! I take it at night to help me sleep and it's supposed to help my anxiety.

It's actually the generic brand called Alprazolam but still... it's nasty!!

So does anyone here have such a tortuous and nasty ass tasting medicine that you think tops this?

1. Theraflu.
:puke:

It works very well, but tastes horrible. And you can't just swallow it fast like a pill. You have to drink a whole glass of it. x(

2. I can handle pills. I just can't handle liquid medicine unless it's
sugary and grapey. :puke: I've never been able to stand liquid medicine. My parents had to chase me down to make me take liquid medicine when I was growing up. In fact, Dad once had to hold me down to get liquid penicillin in me to combat an infection, and anyone who would have walked in the door would have thought he was abusing me. :yoiks: Nope, he was just a weary dad just trying to take care of a sick child who wouldn't cooperate.

3. My niece, Alionah is that way...
She is just getting over an illness from this past Labor Day weekend. Poor girl had to go to the hospital, twice since she was complaining of lower abdominal pains. When I took her on the first night she had to drink some grapey contrast stuff and she couldn't drink the whole thing. She wouldn't drink or eat anything complaining that her stomach hurt. The CT scan fortunately came back as negative for appendicitis but she was constipated. Her blood work and urine came back as normal. They gave her some morphine (she is 7) to alleviate the pain and she was high.
The next day she was sleeping alot and lethargic and it had my sister concerned so we called my doctor's on call emergency guy and he said that morphine shouldn't affect her like that (she had slept 18 hours that day) and that we had to take her back.

All they did was recommend milk of magnesia and liquid amoxicillan. So when we came back to my sister's place she had to take the medicine and was having a fit about it.

I guess most kids think that meds are nasty.

4. Prednisone

At least for pills. For liquids it would have to be cough syrup with hydrocodone. :puke:

Oh yeah--the Imitrex nasal spray. About 5 minutes after using it there's this hideous tasting post-nasal drip. I always have to remember to have some very strong tasting gum or candy on hand if I'm going to use that.

7. Liquid Vicodin...
Never tasted anything nastier in my life. It's actually liquid hydrocodone (generic vicodin) but it tastes awful.

9. Amoxil
At least, that stuff used to be disgusting when I was a kid, but every time I'd get a cold (well, technically, an "upper respiratory infection") that's what the doctor would prescribe. I think I would have rather just stayed sick than swallow that stuff! Of course, I was a weenie who couldn't swallow a pill and thus was taking it in liquid form, so that may have had a lot to do it.

11. The old cough medicine that had "44" in its name
It was BLACK, and tasted HORRIBLE. I know they changed the formula. It was probably 100% alcohol or something. I remember my mom giving it to us late 60's, early 70's.

14. Liquid Prednisone for kids
that is enough to make you want to die...

Little ones with Asthma or any other disorder that requires it are forced to take it and it poisons the taste of anything it is mixed with...

17. Turpenhydrate with codeine
Also known as GI gin. It makes Nyquil taste like the nectar
of the gods. Anyone who has had to take it is now cowering
under their desks or beds with PTSD flashbacks.

It was a popular cold remedy when I was a kid.
