RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Clay Aiken is in line to be named to the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities, the White House said Wednesday.

Aiken, a Raleigh native who gained fame as a runner-up on "American Idol," once worked as a YMCA counselor.

The committee's Web site said it advises the president on issues pertaining to people with intellectual disabilities. The committee was established in 1961 by President John Kennedy as the President's Panel on Mental Retardation.

A White House press release said President Bush intends to make the appointment. Officials did not say when.

6. You've got gaydar and you watch project runway
I can't figure it out - is Michael gay or straight?

Kayne is definately gay, Jeffrey does have a kid and looks like he could be bi, but I can't figure out Michael. Is it feasible that there could be talented straight male designers? Could LynneSin be anymore stereotypical. Inquiring minds want to know

BTW - America's Next Top Model starting next week I think it is

14. I have no issues with Bisexuallity here
Just stating that Jeffrey has the vibes of a member.

Come on it's project runway and it's fun to play "Guess the sexual orientation of the male designers" Women are pretty obvious, but I'm not sure if I'm sensing lesbian with Uli or if I really do have bad gaydar.

We love you bi_baby! We even love Jeffrey too when he isn't an asshole sewing together shredded dresses and picking on Angela's mom

17. I hate Jeffrey
I didn't like him before the Mom episode, but his behavior during that and after as almost sociopathic. For real. Of course, seeing how his mom excused him told me alot about where he got his "I can do whatever the fuck I want attitude."

And, Lynne, I think you're biphobic!!!!!

Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 08:31 AM by LostinVA
have all discussed this... 'cause it's fun. We THINK he's straight... although I have met a few gay guys that totally have zero gay vibes...

Ugh. Tyra has been annoying me so much.... YaYa was in "Take the Lead." We watched it this past weekend. She was a main character -- her acting was adequate, and she's a decent dancer.

He was reknown for advocating for the rights of the developmentally disabled long before that term was used.

I think I'm going to hurl now, thank you very much.

Edit: spelling.

12. Not that I'm a huge Aiken fan or anything
but isn't it possible that he just wants to do something positive for those with intellectual disabilities? He doesn't have to like Bush to want to be a part of something that could help others. This committee was started by Kennedy, and despite 8 years of Reagan, 4 of Bush I, and 5 of Bush II, the committee is still here! Could it be that Aiken is leaving politics out of it and just rolling up his sleeves to help?

34. He's a registered Democrat
And he describes himself as a "progressive". Back when he was on the show, some of his friends used to come on the boards to talk about him and they described his politics as "very liberal".

36. Um, can I retroactively un-introduce him?
A year and a half ago, Clay was a keynote speaker at our annual disabilities conference sponsored by UH. Guess who got to introduce him? The then-chair of the state Developmental Disabilities Council -- yours truly! I got some yuks, too  but never actually got to meet him, as his handlers hustled him out there like he was some kind of pop star or something. :P

And now it's come to this? If his politics are as liberal as suggested above, did the Bush**ies just fall asleep on this one or what? Or do I have to go to the conference next March and officially retract my introduction?!

Oh yes, Clay had a run-in with that unauthorized bio author while he was out here, at a benefit concert he gave before the conference. Nope, wasn't there; only the real big shots got to get into that one without busting out $100-plus. :(
