Need help with Macintosh puzzlement...

I was working with my 8-year-old son on a school project that involved printing out some images (not photo). We have a Mac Power PC and a Stylewriter 2500 printer (yeah, I know..."old equipment") Anyway, we were working with a paint/draw program and trying to invert a graphic. We were somewhat successful inverting the graphic 180 degrees to have it appear upside down, but when we did so, the upside-down graphic became ragged looking and printed out the same way. It's as if the image lost pixels, giving it a kind of image you'd expect from an old dot-matrix printer.

We tried it several times with no success: every time we tried the upside-down version lost clarity.

Any suggestions?

3. "Claris Works"

The "draw" program. I use the word program quite a bit but haven't really ventured into the other parts (draw, paint, spreadsheet). Don't really know why it would do this; I just assumed that any drawing inverted would have the same quality.

The image we were trying to invert was the bass clef music symbol from a font called Petrucci...
