Artists and Sports Reporters Begin to Speak Out

For a number of years many people asked where were the artists with their songs protesting the war and the actions of the Bush Administration. In the last six months a number of artists and at least on sports reporter have come out and either directly or indirectly critized the President. A few months ago pink came out with at least one song that criticized the President. Recently John Mayer came out with the song "Waiting on the World to Change", which, even though it may have slightly criticzed his own generation, takes on the media and the government. In addition, India Ayire released the song "There's Hope" in which their is a line that says "oil prices keep on rising, the government keeps on lying". Finally, just last Sunday the host of the ESPN show "The Sports Reporters", John Saunders at the end of his parting shots commentary said "maybe the saints and Reggie Bush can do for New Orleans what the other Bush could not do".

1. Well, HST had an ESPN column that did plenty of Bush bashing.

It's now published as the book "Hey Rube." Unfortunately, HST died in 2005, but he did more bashing of Bush than he did talking about sports in his column. The world needs another HST to step forward.
