1. As an ex-board member (9 Years)...
I've seen this and worse. My goal was to bus the kids to an undisclosed location, video feed the game on community/public tv channel and then bus the kids back. The kids would have a lot more fun.

4. Did watch it.
But I've seen things like that before. Like the guy who punches the seven or eight year old hockey player.

5. I'm going to relate this to world events
It might be a bit of a stretch, but, here it is...

People get a little crazy when it comes to their kids. This latest children's sports meltdown is just a little glimpse of what people do when they think their precious offspring is threatened.

The guy went crazy and acted completely inappropriately and at the minimun, I think the guy should get at least a hefty fine and community service for attacking a child at a sporting event. I actually wish he would get at least a few months jail time. I've seen the video over and over again and I'm going out on a limb pronouncing him guilty. That said. if I were on a jury, I'd throw the book at the guy.

So, what's my point? Relating this to world events... people go crazy when they think someone threatened or injured their offspring. I had a next door neighbor theaten to beat my head in with a tire iron (he's a man and I was 17 (girl - at the time) because my barking dog (at 4:00 PM) woke up his 2 year old.

So, what we know about how normally reasonable people react when their kids are "threatened" why in the hell do we think we can stop religous radicalism by BOMBING and KILLING civilians. By killing *their* precious children. It does not make logical sense to try to stop violence with violence.

I don't think it's about protecting their precious little DNA carriers. The deed's been done, it's about revenge. Like the guy in connecticut who murdered the guy who allegedly molested his two year old. Since the penalty for molestation isn't the death penalty, there is no defending what he did, legally.

How many children were killed in Lebanon? How many in Iraq? Afghanastan? All over the world every day. The cycle of violence and revenge is unbroken.

I believe the basic difference between those on the right and the left is that the right thinks human beings are basically evil and the left thinks human beings are basically good (gross generalization, but it works for me.)

I've been thinking about this most of the day, since the first time I saw that video and realized yet again what a cycle of violence actually means.

I don't have any answers, wish I did, but I don't.

I say throw the book at this guy. On the specific level, that's all we can do. On the general level... I don't know. I really don't.

7. I tend to agree with your points,
but as someone who has only spent three days in a county bullpen, for defending myself a tad too proficiently, I think a week in lock up would be better. If the guys a generally decent member of society, anything more will only needlessly expose him to the kind of people that, well, for lack of better explanation, you only meet in county lockup.
