First day of skool over...Dropping 1 class...
Ok, so I got through day 1...3 classes...I'm dropping the first, The French Revolution, simply b/c it is apparently the *single* hardest upper-level course in History, and I cannot devote the necessary time to doing well overall, combined with working.

Otherwise, I had Politics of Transitional Nations and my History Seminar, Revolutionaries. Tommorrow, 3rd yr French and Microecononmics. Not many worries there, at all. Besides, all the other courses I need, and the one I'm dropping I don't. :)

So tired.... :boring:....homework to do x(

4. I love folks like you
since I am always a day late and a dollar short when signing up for classes and am always praying with my fingers crossed for someone to drop. You are the salt of the earth, lol

Glad it is going well...what degree are you pursuing?

6. Hehe, you...
It's a good idea, I know my limits :)

Double Major, Economics and French. My major interest is economic development in French-speaking West Africa :)

8. wow.
that's amazing. I'm impressed. I dropped economics when I was in college the first time, and statistics, and meterology, and tennis, and golf, and just about everything else I tried to take. LOL. I am not good at school. I hope it goes well for you, sounds like you'll be using both sides of your brain full time for that, lol. :hi:

11. i'm an uber-nerd for 9 months of the year, hehe
Sept-May, I'm all about school and grades, and stress...I thrive on it. :D

After this, my Master's in Political Economy, most likely...and then, either worky-jerky or my Doctorate :)

I'm on a roll lately, so I'm sticking with it :)

14. you go girl!
inspires me...I didn't sign up for school this semester. I don't know why, just feeling a little frozen. I think I probably will miss next semester too because of money issues. But I am doing some other stuff that I am more interested in right now and I am gonna change my major again anyway. I seems like everyone on this website is so educated. It's a trip how many people with graduate degrees there are.

I admire anyone who can handle economics...that subject was exasperating for me.

20. are you fluent in french now?
how long did it take to get totally comfortable with speaking it? I am working on Spanish right now and want to take French in the future, since they are relatively similar.

21. Not quite yet...but getting there
I've taken 14 credits of French in the past 4 semesters, plus 1 month in Paris...When in France, I'm totally comfortable, for the most part...Here, I'm a lil more shy ...But I feel fine with my French...Highly functional, can write a good essay, speak, and I tutor it too. :)

23. more shy here?
wow. 14 credits seems like a ton. I hope to find a job around some spanish speaking people so I can learn because that's the best way really, to be around people and use it. I noticed they have a french forum on here but it doesn't look like they have a spanish one. How many times have you been to France?

but it is usually a week for add/drops.

sorry to come down hard on you, but there are a lot of college students trying to get into classes just to graduate on time.

i understand though. i did the same thing once or twice and i got totally reamed by conscientious professors.

9. Y'know...
the former "3rd world" type nations...developing politically, which is intrinsically tied to both economic and social development. :D

Hehe, kinda helps that I took Economics of Emerging Nations last year at my old skool :P

12. Hence the term, "transitional nations"
Although, the origin of the term is pretty neutral, denoting those nations that were neither Western/Capitalist or Eastern/Communist (1st and 2nd worlds). The 3rd world were simply those nations that didn't fall into either category, most often the former colonies of many Western powers, now independent/somewhat independent.

22. Quitter
In the future, when you are posting here, I will say, "You could have accepted the challenge of that French Revolution class and you could have been studying for it right now instead of fucking around on DU!"

Heh heh. ;) Just kidding. :)
