Anyone ever seen Amelie?
Any thoughts on what the movie means? Or is it just a really good movie?

1. loved it
I watched it several times, sometimes just for the artistic effects.

Same guy who directed "Alien Resurrection" directed "Amelie".

4. it opens possibilities
Not only through the magical realism (there are a couple of very interesting Brazilian films that excel at this) but through the magic that happens in her relationships.

To me, the fact that the Soviet Union fell meant that anything was possible. Remember how we thought it was going to be there forever?

Amelie opens the same door for me.

Not to get too political, but it means that bush can go down, no matter how improbable that may look.

5. Brilliant film!
Edited on Tue Jul-08-03 09:31 AM by SiouxJ
I just watched it Saturday. Damn the French know how to make films! Funny, smart, beautiful, not very predictable, just a great, interesting film. I think it was just a Carpe Diem type of message myself. With a touch of "there's someone for everyone" thrown in too.

on edit: spelling

many laugh out loud moments in this film.....nothing wrong with being a dreamer but you have to participate in life to truly live.
