So, I'm in
to the new place, that is. And let me tell you, just because your stuff is moved into a room, it doesn't make it feel like home. Especially when said room is painted fucking gold. With leopard print accents. The bedspread and chair cushions & stuff used to be leopard print. And FYI, shiny gold walls clash with pale yellows, sage greens, warm reds and deeper yellows (my former colour schemes). It's a bit of a nightmare, but I'll figure out a way to deal with it.

Another nightmare was cleaning the old place while living with someone who apparently doesn't understand the whole concept of "Clean it real good or kiss your damage deposit goodbye". I'm getting the full deposit back, but theres a whole issue above and beyond to deal with.

And of course, the movers showing up three hours late, not calling, taking for freaking ever, and screwing everything up.

But, I'm in. And I sort of finally have internet access again. And I most certainly have a working telephone. So, there you go. Things can't be all bad, now, can they? (except my computer desk is also gold. I need to bring mine in here and get rid of this pos)

But, I have a smoking balcony with huge luscious windows, my cat is chillin' and doin' well, and I'm breaking my bed back in so I don't hurt as much when I wake up in the morning. Good times, my pals, good times.

Seriously, you all should see this place. It's a nightmare in gold and animal print. I feel like a cross between a french prostitute and the bride of tarzan. It's ridiculous.

9. It's worse
I don't know if words can convey the awfulness of gold paint, leopard print, and the TACKY TACKY four poster faux wrought iron bed frame. It was a few years ago nicknamed the 'gothic whore' bed by some people I know, because every dark 'slut' in town had one. It's awful. Horrendous. Vile.

3. I move tomorrow.
I should probably pack soon, haha. Most of my furniture is coming out this weekend though, so I really only need to pack clothes and shit.

Here's hoping my new place has no gold or leopard trim.

25. cleaning has nothing to do w/ security deposit.
I have always left apartments cleaner than when they were when I moved in, but clean is not what the security deposit is supposed to be for.

A security deposit is to pay for DAMAGE done to an apartment... holes in the walls, tears in the rugs, plumbing issues, broken baseboard heaters, doors that don't shut or lock, broken windows, etc. And this applies only to damage that is beyond the normal wear and tear.

About the only time "clean" comes into play is when an apartment has been infested with fleas. If you have to pay to have it fumigated, then that charge can be deducted from the deposit.

27. No. Cleaning comes in
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 03:16 PM by GirlinContempt
wherein the apartment must be clean for the new tenant. If it is not clean, the deposit is used to pay for the services of the cleaner. It has everything to do with it. At least where I live.

29. Not in my state
the landlord cannot withhold any part of a security deposit for cleaning, unless the word "cleaning" is specified under the conditions for return of security deposit.

damages only--and only those not considered normal wear and tear (things that are out-right broken)
