4. Temps over Tops, 6 to 4 between them. Either rate very high for me

2. Temps.
Love both, think "Bernadette" is one of the best songs of any studio era . . . but the Temps prolific output plus their voices and with what they do for the music, iced with "Papa Was a Rolling Stone", is why they get my vote.

5. Tops. The H-D-H songs, and Levi's vocals, were superior.

6. Levi kicks so much ass it's not even funny
Lyrics so sublime, style so dominating...no comparison. I mean, the Temps were awesome, but there's no candle holding to Levi. ;)

7. Tops
At their peak, I just like their stuff more. It was more intense and passionate, with stuff like "Standing in the Shadows of Love", "7 Rooms of Gloom", "Bernadette", etc. I *love* that stuff. The Temptations were recording great stuff as well, but I don't get into their sixties stuff on the same level.

By the seventies, it's a tougher comparison. The Four Tops were still recording some cool stuff, like their take on the Moody Blues' "A Simple Game", "Are You Man Enough?", "Ain't No Woman (Like the One I've Got", but the Temptations were having #1 hits with awesome songs like "Just My Imagination (Runnin' Away with Me)." But at the peak of their career, I have to pick the Four Tops.

9. It's the Temptations vs. the Four Tops
Two big "soul" groups that were on the Motown label in the sixties/early seventies.

(Now I'm just hoping you really were serious, or I'll feel stupid. :-))
